“Fantastic”
Reviewed 9 January 2014

This recently opened hotel was constructed on the site of an old monastry. It has maintained the architecture very successfully and is charming.

The location, accommodation and food are outstanding.Excellent service too.

Just a suggestion: We were told we had been upgraded to a suite. While the suite was huge, it faced the street which is not as quiet as the courtyard facing rooms. Our kids had a courtyard room which was much better. Choose a courtyard room rather than a fancy suite on the street side.

Would definitely reccommend eating at the restaurant. Food was outstanding.

Room Tip: Choose a courtyard facing room.

This Marriott is a historic property, so it has a mixture of the old with all of the usual comforts of a top of the line Marriott. Our family had three rooms and were there for several nights. The staff and rooms were welcoming and very comfortable. We had a delicious lunch and several good breakfasts. The location was excellent, with access to the main areas of Cusco. We would stay here again and highly recommend it!!

Stayed at the JW for New Year's, staff was amazing and made everything to make our stay even more enjoyable.
The standard rooms are not that big, but bathroom is amazing and the room is totally sound proof.
Location couldnt be better, right next to plaza de las armas.
Breakfast is very, very good and starts as early as 5h30 am

Rooms facing the street are a nightmare. All rooms are well appointed and comfortable, but the noise level is unacceptable. Why the problem? Because they have a 1 pane window not properly sealed. We complained, but got no response. We were in Room 318, and the noise coming from the street was unbearable.....it felt like we were on the street itself, and with every other car honking at the intersection it became really annoying. The bellboy that took us to our room did not explain the way the lights worked, areas of the hotel, spa, anything or if he did it was not clear. Light fixtures are not placed in good areas and where they are (ie: desk space) felt like it was a 20v bulb with no way of making it brighter. Not good working or reading light.

Room Tip: Choose rooms facing the courtyard. They have a small balcony/ terrace and I would assume are a lot q...

We stayed at the Marriot for three nights while we stayed in Cusco. It really is a beautiful property - not a bog standard hotel at all. It was slightly cheaper than others we stayed in in Peru and it was great value for money. The waiters at breakfast were so friendly and helpful pointing out the best places to go and their favourite places to eat.

The rooms are nice. The courtyard is beautiful and I imagine great in the summer. Breakfast is good with a buffet and eggs station and everything else you can imagine. There is a nice pool and sauna and steam room but the jacuzzi is small so if it's busy there isnt much space - however it isnt a 'spa hotel' so this is just an added extra anyway so didnt bother us at all.

The location is so central - you can walk everywhere in town from it so it really is the perfect base and fantastic value for money

Dear guets

I am really glad for you sharing your comments at the Trip Advisor website. While reading your punctual but enthusiastic report I felt really proud for the service we deliver and the team I work with as you mention they are very cordial and I would say eager to serve.

Thank you for mentioning some of the property services like the oxygen supply; which is pump directly to the rooms and helps to ease the high altitude symptoms in 900 meters. Also there are some other tips we recommend like having a light meal on your first day in the city, keeping yourself hydrated, coca and muña tea are really good for adjusting to the high and helping with the digestion and of course lemon candies are also good. We feel proud for guarding part of the historical past of the city and we love hearing words like yours that enjoyed our afternoon sites. Also thank you for mentioning our tasty food but most of all for choosing us in this wonderful city.

We look forward to welcome you back at the JW Marriott Cusco!

I have stayed in many high end hotels and am a self proclaimed hotel snob and this hotel exceeded most of my expectations. It's the location, the beautiful old and new architecture, it's the food but mostly it's the service that sets this hotel apart. We got a flavor of the service prior to our arrival, they helped us secure our Peru rail tickets to Macchu Picchu. Sent them a money order from US and they bought our tickets in person - Check. My husband is a lifetime platinum with Marriott so given his status he gets perks in many of these hotels but this one is a class apart, people remember your name, your food preferences and all the other details. The hotel is converted from an old monestary and is only a year old and it's like walking into a gallery with artifacts. We eat dinner, lunch and breakfast and it was all great.. My son wanted to try the cuy (guinea pig) and it was prepared to perfection. For my brithday they had a beautiful sliced cake and they removed pits and chiled the chirimuya fruit that I got myself from the market once they realized I loved it. We used them to book travel to the sacred valley and it was great as well. I would stay in this hotel again in a heart beat. If you can afford it go for it, you will not regret the stay. Cusco is beautiful and the J.W. makes the experience even more spectacular.
