“Absolutely Superb!”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

My sister and I had the privilege of staying at this fabulous hotel in Cusco. Our rooms were gorgeous and perfectly appointed. The location is perfect.

Best of all was the outstanding service delivered by our butlers Daniel and Francisco. They delivered flowers, found playing cards, made Piscos, gave us Piscos lessons (Francisco's Piscos were the best we had in all of Peru), arranged for dinners and day trips. They were absolutely delightful. Kudos also to the housekeeping team...rooms were beautifully kept.

Request private driver Max...he graciously drove us all around the Sacred Valley, stopping at all of the best photo ops along the way.

All service was delivered with joy...and while the hotel is simply beautiful, it was the entire staff that made our experience in Cusco one that we will long remember. Don't miss it!

Perfect hotel in every way. They seem to have as their mantra "never say 'no' to a guest; we can arrange anything your heart desires." Beautifully appointed room-lovely bedding and bath. Fabulous butler service...ask for Francisco, and make certain to avail yourself of the daily pisco sour service in your room Perfect location. Can't say enough about this wonderful place.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. Tremendous location, a short walk down interesting streets to the main square, but in a quiet spot. Gorgeous public rooms and grounds (a converted old nunnery) - beautiful courtyards. (ask to see the chapel). Our room (we were upgraded to a suite) was sumptuous and incredibly well-designed in every respect and very comfortable and quiet. (we overlooked one of the rear courtyards). We had dinner in the restaurant one night, and this was also superb, with a very interesting menu, very helpful and attentive staff and quite reasonable prices. The breakfasts (also in the restaurant) were delicious - great buffet and full american breakfast as well. A wonderful harpist played each morning - we bought his CD.

The staff of the hotel were top-notch. Always very helpful and attentive, from the manager (who gave my wife a tour of the chapel) on down. Our "butler" gave us a lesson in our room on how to make Pisco Sours. This was a highlight of our stay -do it if you can.

We have stayed in top-flight hotels in many countries and this hotel ranks with the best. We hope to be back soon.

All in all this was a terrific property and I highly recommend staying here. The staff - I would have to say that the staff at Belmond Palacio Nazarenas is what makes this hotel so outstanding. Thank you in particular to Daniel and Freddy. They really stood out and made our stay an exceptional experience.
The rooms - This is a very fine property, a LOT of history. We booked through a third party and the package offered an automatic upgraded room if available. When we were checking in we asked for the upgrade but were denied even though we soon found out there were only 25 or so occupied rooms out of 45 plus rooms. Although the hotel Palacio Nazarenas property was amazing and the staff was lovely we were offered a very small room at first with tiny clerestory windows and no view. It felt so claustrophobic, so they offered a smaller room on the less desirable (newer) wing of the hotel but it at least it had a large sliding door and balcony so we agreed to take that one. Unfortunately the hotel would not honor the room upgrade that was part of the package so this is the reason for the 4 star review rather than the 5 star.
The food - Most nights we were the only people in the restaurant for hours. The food was just okay and a little pricey but again the wait staff made it an exceptional experience so we ate dinner there a couple of times. I would agree that this hotel deserves the high ratings it consistently receives and again, I would highly recommend staying here.

Dear Debra,
Thank you for providing us with your feedback.
I regret to hear regarding the up-grade, unfortunately due to your early arrival we had a limited amount of superior categories available and the ones we showed you were not to your liking due to the windows in the original part.
Gratefull for your comments regarding the staff as indeed they are the soul of Palacio Nazarenas.
Should you be back in Cusco, please let me know directly so we can assign your dream room in advance.
With best regards,

This establishment deserves its rating as the top hotel in Cusco. Presentation and upkeep of the room was impeccable. The hotel is ideally located close enough to the town centre but within a very quiet enclave

This is a converted convent. If this was what Hamlet meant when he told Ophelia to "Go thy ways to a nunnery", she should have taken his advice. This hotel was wonderful. The room was spacious, the attendants superbly trained, and the grounds immaculate. The butler, Daniel, was helpful, attentive but not obtrusive. The location is convenient to the main square yet quiet. The restaurant was also first rate. I really cannot think of anything e hotel needs to improve.
