I am a hotel owner from california so am difficult to please. This place is fantastic, same or better than good hotels in the usa. Staff speaks english and goes out of the way to help.
Room and bathrooms are large, very clean. LCD tv's with lots of channels.
Extremely satisfied and a great value,

Room Tip: you can get rooms with 3 beds if needed.

The hotel is in a fantastic location, right near the main square and the Cathedral . We arrived earlier than expected but our room was ready for us and was comfy and quite adequate for our needs. We stayed for just one night then headed off for three nights to Machu Pichu and the sacred valley, the hotel were very happy to look after our main luggage while we were away. Breakfast was fine and coca tea available free at any time in the lobby area. When we returned we had been upgraded to a suite which had a little balcony and although a little old fashioned in decor was again clean and comfy. The second night of our return stay was a little unfortunate as we came down with a very nasty bug which left us pretty much room bound - ( this was not picked up from the hotel - some dodgy chicha in the sacred valley was the most likely culprit ) the hotel check out time was 10am and our flight not till that afternoon, the hotel bent over backwards for us, allowing us to stay at no extra cost, till we were picked up for the airport, calling out a doctor for us and generally showing much concern and helpfulness.

I loved this hotel.

First of all, I loved the environment: the hotel is in a renovated old colonial house just 2 minutes walking from the old central square of Cusco. It has a very nice "patio" which has been covered and is now a warm meeting and relaxing point to taste a traditional Mate de Coca-tea (which they will offer to you).

Rooms are big and nice, bathrooms as well, everything clean and comfortable. Internet connection is free and available also in the rooms.

I found also the service very nice and efficient.

Some little cons: no lift was available, due to the fact the hotel is in a historical place. Anyways, there are many rooms in the low level, so if you think you'll have problems to do the stairs, just ask for the lower floor. Finally, the restaurant inside the hotel was quite poor. There are so many nice places to eat at a whatever direction 5 minutes walk that it would be a pity to stay inside!

Room Tip: Ask for the 4th floor room! You'll have to do a lot of steps (which at 3000 meters IS breathtaki...

Awesome location but the rooms are dark, dingy with dusty floors and grimy bedspreads from the seventies. Looks as though it should have been updated about 20 years ago.

Everything here feels dated and slightly dirty. My bed was a twin bed.

I really do mean 5 stars.

The staff ranging from the drive to the reception to the restaurant to housekeeping was exemplary.

We had missed our first flight & came into Cusco a good 3 hours later than expected. The poor driver had still waited for us & was nice enough to point out landmarks around town (We gave him a HUGE tip for waiting.)

The reception desk was nice enough to accomodate our broken Spanish & was readily available when needed.

There's always hot tea w/ condiments available. Dinner was free for one evening. The waittress provided friendly service. & the food was pretty good that we fell victim to ordering in a couple nights from them.

Breakfast is vast & free every am. Vast in variety, ranging from eggs to cereal to cheese to fresh fruit to pastried, I can go on...

Housekeeping was wonderful! The smallest things were tended to from folding socks on the floor to folding the cord to the curling iron!

I also liked how the bedding was plenty warm. I was able to sleep in a large T-shirt despite the cold.

The location was prime. In the middle of & w/in walking distance from major squares & great restaurants, I can't complain!!

This may be more of a Peruvian thing than anything else as we experienced this in other hotels. Would be nice to have elevator access to upper levels. There were stairs only, although staff did bring large luggage upstairs for the first time, further transfer would have to be done alone unless you wanted to wait for help.

But a great place, great people, highly recommended!!

Actually to be fair, the hotel is very well situated, the staff, were extremely friendly and helpful, and the room is quite nice for the area. So really you could have quite a nice stay here while in Cuzco.

The reason I give this place a low rating is because the management ripped us off on the airport transfer arriving to the hotel. I had requested an airport transfer to the hotel (most, even cheaper places will offer this free of charge) which they sent. When we go to the hotel the driver demanded $20 USD for the ride. We were completely baffled since we arrnged the ride with the hotel, so we called the person I arranged this with (Ana Rosa) and to our surprise she said, yes, we have to pay the driver. The driver was angry and being intimidating and we were tired so we paid him off to leave.

Just to put this into perspective, airport transfers to much cheaper hotels (we stayed at Hostel Amaru after that which I would recommend for price and service over this place) are provided for free. Secondly, when we spoke to Ana Rosa about this, she completely lied to us and claimed she e-mailed us to tell us the hotel transfer would be $20 USD (she did not, I had e-mail access the whole time). Third, a taxi from the airport to downtown Cuszco is 5 to 10 soles ($2-$4) , so even if we had to pay the guy, the hotel arranged it so he basically robbed us for 10 times the fair price.

Again, I was tired and this was the start of our trip so we decided not to continue to argue since Ana Rosa from the hotel seemed to be the one to set this up in the first place (I assume she got a kick-back for ripping us off).

It's really a shame because the place is nice in all other respects, but it's impossible for me to give this a good rating with a manager who is so blatently dishonest. Other places we stayed at throughout Peru, the hotel workers were genally the ones that helped us avoid getting ripped off rather than ripping us off.

We stayed at Los Andes de America for a few days in August and had a good experience overall. We arranged pickup from the airport and the driver was right on time accompanied by an English speaking representative from the hotel. As soon as we got to the hotel they offered us some coca tea to help ease altitude sickness and sorted out all of our transportation and entrance tickets to Machu Picchu.
The rooms were clean and quite large compared to some of the other places we have stayed. The breakfast buffet was included in our booking and had the standard cereal, eggs, bread, bacon, etc. Also included in our booking was one free dinner at the hotel restaurant. The dinner was marginal, but you can't complain too much when it's a free meal.
The best part about staying here is the location. It's a very short walk to the Plaza de Armas and Chi Cha restaurant, where you can try some Cuy and a very strong Pisco Sour! Overall, a good place to stay in a great location!
