Wonderful service, food, rooms, and all in an old monastery. All this on a cute square and across from a great museum. A few days a week there is a late afternoon tour of the facility which we unfortunately missed. Ask when you reserve when it is. Stay here if you can afford it. It is worth it.

We recently stayed 4 nights in the Monasterio before and after a trip to Maccu Piccu. The standard rooms are small as many others have said but they are beautifully decorated and the hotel grounds are very pretty .We were fortunate to be upgraded to a junior suite for our second stay which was really lovely and definitely added to our stay.
Overall the staff were great - the bar and restaurant staff were excellent and we really enjoyed the traditional tea served by the fire after a long day site seeing.
The only issue we encountered was regarding the concierge service - we used it twice once to book restaurant and once for a massage . For the restuarant they did not call back and let us know that reservations had been made and it took 3 follow up calls to find out that the restaurant we wanted was fully booked , to choose another and then finally to call to confirm that this booking had been made successfully. For the massages they confused the rooms and time of the massage between ourselves and our friends - again despite the fact that we had called back to confirm . Both these situations were resolved without problem and it certianly did not ruin our stay but at such a special hotel and at such special prices we would have expected this service to work more smoothly. This is still an amazing hotel and if you get the chance you should stay here .

We stayed at the Monasterio for two nights before visiting Machu Picchu and again for one night on our return to Cusco. We enjoyed everything about the hotel. The architecture and decor is beautiful, the food in the restaurant (we had breakfast, one lunch and one dinner) was wonderful (although dinner was a little pricey) and we had excellent service throughout our experience. We had a beautiful room for the first two nights and were thrilled to be upgraded to a suite on our return. I would not hestitate to recommend this hotel and our stay there will be a special memory for us.

We stayed here one night in September after having hiked the Inca trail. The premises itself was absolutely amazing and the cloisters looked beautiful in the moonlight. The public areas are well maintained, with lovely manicured gardens. We were able to sit in a quiet courtyard on the comfortable sun loungers in the morning and it was a real haven.
I was slightly disappointed with our room, which was tiny and an awkward L shape - we had two large suitcases and only had room around the bed to have one open at any one time, and had to shuffle around each other to get to the bathroom, which was quite large but a little dated. I guess this is the nature of the building but I did get the impression that we had been put in one of the smallest rooms.
The buffet breakfast and bar area were both great. All in all, the public areas were beautiful and a trip to the restaurant / bar is well worthwhile, however I think the price we paid for the room was high given the size of the room - I'm sure there are better places to overnight in Cusco.

The Hotel Monasterio remains into a national historical landmark, protected by the INC (National Institute of Culture) and has retained its original characteristics and charm and basically, the former cloisters have been converted into our current rooms, which is the reason we have different size of rooms in the same category.

Once again, please accept our apologies regarding our rooms and the service expected. We hope you can be back in the hotel very soon. We would be pleased to show you that we can make it better.

Sincerely,

We had a marvellous three-day stay in the Monasterio. Such glorious surroundings and art work, luxurious rooms and just a very short walk to the Plaza de Armas, shops and restaurants. But most importantly, what great staff. When we returned to the Monasterio from Machu Pichu, we were greeted like long lost friends. Thank you so much to Claudia Galindo, Fiorella Zuniga Herrera and Abel.

We just got back from Peru after a sensational trip for a wk with Orient express vacations. It included Lima,Cusco and of course Machu Pichu. We stayed at Monasterio in Cusco for 3 nights. All hotels we stayed in were great as they all are orient express, but monasterio is my most favorite one.Great atmosphere, including morning music, very soothing atmosphere all around. We had a junior suite to start, which had living room, bed room, dressing area and bath.Very nice decor, two tvs ,L"occitane in the bath, water supplied made life very comfortable. The courtyard was beautiful But best part was when we got back for one night,we were put in large suite which was unbelievable!!Everything i said above and more.Food was good but best in Sanctury Lodge at Machu Pichu.
Best of all was impeccable service, both by hotel and Orient express staff.
One of the best places i have stayed
