This large national park area has something for everyone: a smaller Christ the Reedemer, two Inca remain sites, local craft shops, huge park area for BBQ/kite flying and family days out.

I visited Sacsayhuaman on a day tour of sites just outside of Cusco. We took a taxi around to these ruins and sites and this was one of our favorites. It was easily accessible and wonderful to walk around in. We took a lot of pictures.

Located up on the hills above the city, it is a quick 5-8 minute taxi from the plaza de armas. Taxi should be around 8 soles. It opens at 8 so get up there at 8 to beat the tour groups. Its a great sight with many picture opportunities. Get there at opening and start at the ground level where the big stones are to get the best pictures before people start to arrive. Later on work your way up to see the city from the top. Also good to do is walk to the other hill to visit the statue of christ and a better view of the city.

Sacsayhuaman, a stone fortress strategically built on a hill overlooking Cusco, Its walls were made of huge rocks, piled neatly one on top of another, and some of the walls standing over 30 ft high and the rocks weighing over 350 tons. Theories abound on how the stones were transported and set into position. Very impressive Incan engineering. Great place for group pictures.

Sacsayhuaman is incredible. It is huge, built of stones that looked immovable. Used as an Inca administrative center it must have covered acres and acres of land. From the top you look down on the city of Cusco. I loved this spot.
