“Fantastic Place, fantastic staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2013

We stayed at Tika Wasi several weeks ago for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to please. The facility was clean and spacious. We really liked the lounges on each floor. It was a great way to get to know fellow travellers. The courtyard was another great place to relax. Breakfasts were substantial and tasty. Once the renovations are complete there will be even more room to relax and enjoy the facility!

Stay: Sep 2012 - 10 nights

Excellent hotel, well placed in terms of it's location. Very central near the Plaza de Armas, restaurants, bars, cafes, travel offices etc., It's quite a place for trekkers. Meeting visitors from many parts of the world.

This hotel was our base for the 10 day trek to the High Inca Trail. The hotel exceeded our expectations in every aspect.

The Manager Angel ( I suppose for Angelo) together with his staff were all very helpful and accommodating.
Nothing was too much trouble for them. Arranging taxis, take outs, tours, doctor's visits etc., was a breeze.

I will definitely recommend this hotel to any one. One caution - hotel is on a slight incline and may not suit older visitors unless they are fit. (me young 69!)

Room Tip: Rooms facing the garden are the best with an excellent view of Cusco and the Plaza de Armas. Breakf...

I was supposed to start and finish a tour here, but due to some unexpected changes the tour switched to a different hotel. That said, I liked the place well enough to deal with the hassle of switching hotels twice, each for one night stays at this place. Website listed lower price, so best to contact them direct for room price than through any linked booking services. Transport was arranged to pick me up from the airport, but was late so I had up call on arrival to check on it, which showed up within 5 minutes after that. Rooms and bathrooms were cleaner than the other 2 places I stayed while here. Location is up on the hill from the main plaza, but I took taxis here as I was either arriving with luggage from somewhere or coming back after night. Probably ok to walk back after dark in a big group- not up say that the area seems sketchy- it doesn't- but it's recommended in general in Cuzco to avoid walking along dark alleys at night that aren't in the main busy tourist center.
The staff has been really great as far as being helpful and responsive- I even left a bag with some things I had bought to store for the week while I was gone- note that this was a basic plastic bag and open- and had no issues with anything missing- all good!
Breakfast is nice- eggs, potatoes crackers, breads, yogurt, fruit, ham and cheese slices, coffee, tea- more than most places. Tea is available all day which us nice. Garden area is pleasant to relax in. Views from the dining area to the city are great! There's construction of sorts going on in part of the hotel, which hasn't been an issue- after reading some other reviews, I think they take feedback very seriously and are constantly working to improve their facilities. I had a room next to the reception and courtyard and I can see how the noise of folks coming and going could bother some, but I didn't think it was bad. That said- if you're a light sleeper, you might want to let them know that when you reserve a room and ask if there's a room further from reception available.
One more note- very few hostals in Cuzco have heaters in the room- the bedding is adequate to compensate for this, but my room was cold until I crawled under my covers- which I experienced in each place I stayed, just a heads up.
Would definitely stay here again and will be recommending the place to my tour company to be used more frequently if possible.

We visited Cuzco on our honeymoon and based on previous tripadvisor reviews and the pricing, we decided to stay there.
Beautiful little cozy hostal, where they received us with a smile, a map around cuzco and coca tea to help us with the "mal de altura".
The room and bathroom were very clean, very good WIFI, great view of the city and their terrace and very friendly staff.
The only thing that was kind of challenging was the height of the hotel (we were panting when we got there) and that the checkout time was too early (10am), how ever they were kind enough to take care of our luggage for an extra couple hours for no additional charge.

Best customer service received in Peru!

- Location is good, but really not easy to climb up. The road is not much steep as hard to breathe and to walk up the hill in the highlands (3500 m).
- The hostel and rooms were very well decorated. Very nice patio. Our room was spacious and bright with many windows. We had a very comfortable and cozy room at the top of attic with an amazing view of downtown and the mountains. There was no heating in the room. Our salvation was in hot tea with coca and a warm blankets.
- The breakfast was okay, but unpretentious. In the breakfast room there was also a very nice view of the city.
- The hotel staff were friendly and helpfull, especially one guy, who spoke english very good.
- There were some problems with Wi-Fi from time to time.

Return to this place with pleasure.

There were 5 of us, who stayed 2 nights there. Rooms were ok, but walls are not thick, and you can really hear what your neighbors are doing. WiFi worked from time to time, breakfast was not plentiful. What we liked for sure was helpful staff (especially want to mention Angel) and cozy veranda.

I would recommend this hotel for them who do not want to waste money, interested in authenticity, like to see all cuzco beneath and who is strong enough to climb uphill. The central square is 5 minutes walk (down) or 20 minutes (up)

We happened to walk into this hostal and immediately liked it. The rooms were spacious, clean and modern. We thought the bed was very comfortable, enjoy the hot shower with great pressure and really enjoyed amenities such as cable TV and wifi. Also, the location in San Blas is great and the distance into the Plaza de Armas was a nice walk - enough distance away, but not too far. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.
