“Good Hotel near the Plaza de Armas”
Reviewed 24 April 2013 via mobile

Quaint hotel within 2 blocks of the Plaza de Armas. I stayed for 3 nights before my Inca Trail trek and one night after. The staff is excellent. They will store your bags for free. The laundry service is reasonable and fast. My only quibble is that like most Central and South American hotels, wifi, while free, is only available in the court yard and lobby. You can get a weak signal in rooms around the first court yard, but not in the back rooms. It is also right next door to SAS travel, so if you booked a tour with SAS, this is the easiest place to stay.

We stayed at Hotel Los Marqueses for 4 nights in April 2013 before and after our Macchu Picchu hike. Some of the things to know are:

- Excellent location: Hotel is well situated 2 blocks from the main Plaza de Armas and close to Plaza San Francisco. The main plaza is beautiful but very noisy and so it was nice to be within a comfortable walking distance of it without being impacted by the foot traffic and noise.

- Beautiful architecture: the hotel is gorgeous with archways and old colonial style architecture. The rooms are well proportioned but lack wi-fi - you have to go down to the lobby for it. The deluxe rooms seemed really nice so it make sense to splurge if you can afford it.

- Staff: was excellent and very gracious. Special shout to Mariela who made all the arrangements with me over email and who was very prompt with her responses.

- Food: was actually delicious. Great breakfasts every morning (included) and I even ordered room service one night and was very pleasantly surprised.

- Services: do a great job with the laundry and it was quite inexpensive. Same day service offered.

Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: choose a deluxe room facing the first courtyard if you want to get wi-fi in your room

I stayed here three nights before going to Aquas Calientes and three nights afterwards. The first three nights stayed in a sort of duplex--one level had bathroom and some seating and up some stairs to two beds. The walls were thin; however, and I could hear my next door neighbors quite clearly at 3 am (3:00 24h) as they were getting ready to leave. Lovely room, but there was a wedding next door. The other nights stayed in the back--another lovely room.
A lovely breakfast, very welcoming service, beautiful courtyard, good wi fi in the common areas. Very atmospheric . They also have reasonably priced laundry service. Very well located--no more than five minutes to the Plaza des Armas.
I just wish the walls were a little thicker!!!!

Stayed here total of 4 nights during our Cusco/Machu Picchu trip. Clean, quiet (except Sat night), great value breakfast, amazing service and lots of hot water. Was a pleasure to be back after 2 nights in expensive dirty not enough hot water places closer to Macchu Picchu.
If I'm back in Cusco again I'll be staying here.

This 300 year old palace turned hotel oozes character! Rooms surround a beautiful interior courtyard. There are minor flaws, like squeaky floorboards & cranky old locks on the doors, but these are a minor price to pay for retaining the history of this amazing old building. Enjoy the decor & imagine life here in a glorious (or infamous) past! Nice lounge; good service; lovely breakfast. Central location -- only a 5 minute walk to the main square.

Me and my wife stayed here for three days before we treked the Inca trail. Its always advisable to climatise yourself before the trail and im glad we did. The hotel is a nice setting and great location. The rooms were big and clean and nice big bathrooms and hot showers. the breakfast was very nice and the waitress was very sweet. She would say the word 'iiiigs' instead of 'eggs'. We now say it all the time.....bacon and iiigs love ??
There is always coffee and cocoa tea on hand and the staff were very forthcoming. I wouldnt stay here if you are on a tight budget though as its quite pricey.

We stayed here the night before and after the Inca trail. SAS travel is 2 doors down so that was also convenient because we went on the SAS Inca trail tour. The rooms are clean with nice hot showers. They had coca tea for us upon arrival and a nice breakfast both times. They stowed our bags for us while we were on the trail and shuttled us to and from the airport which was great!
