“A wonderful stay in Cusco”
Reviewed 4 May 2012

We stayed 3 times in April 2012, leaving our luggage while we toured the Sacred Valley and a trip to the Manu jungle. The staff were very helpful and courteous, breakfast excellent, eggs cooked to your choice. Location quiet and very close to the Plaza. We had a superior room near the garden and fountain at the rear of the property, great views up the hills of Cusco at night. Good security, nice seating areas on verandahs and great meeting room area with local artifacts. Highly recommend!

Room Tip: Rooms on 3rd floor overlooking the garden/fountain area with beautiful views of Cusco at night.

Rumi Punku was a great choice while traveling solo in Cusco - there are a lot of cheaper options around, but it was really nice to have a centrally located 3 star hotel available right p the street from the plaza.

Pros:
Location - could not have asked for a better location, about half a mile from the plaza de armas and on a street with lots of shops and restaurants - always felt safe walking back from being out and about

Staff - very accommodating, helped me plan out the sights of Cusco, get my bus ticket and generally made me feel welcome at all times, from the pick-up at the airport to the last minute taxi hail or the station - they stored my bags for me while I did the inca trail with no hassles, Evan found my bag waiting for me in my room when I came back

Rooms- I stayed in room 309 or three non consecutive nights and always had hot water and fresh towels - also a great view of the hills of cusco

Cons:

Price: a little steep for a mid range in Cusco - everything Is extra and it seemed like their rates were higher than most comparable places located the same distance away from the plaza - also they charge for a sub par jacuzzi and steam room that was definitely not worth s15

Noise: Even being in the upstairs back of t he building, it was pretty noisy from 11pm on, with street and guest noise coming up through the windows -

I would recommend staying here if budget allows - location and staff trump cons

Nice rooms, beautiful public spaces, convenient location, good breakfast with very generous hours (5am-10am.) We were picked up at the airport by a friendly tour guide who made the ride from the airport into a mini tour. Scheduled a massage for me and my wife, which was a great treat and well worth what we paid. We just loved this place. Very romantic, pretty. One drawback is that the beautiful courtyards (there are 2) and tiled hallways tend to concentrate sound from other guests, so it's not the quietest hotel. But when we go back to Cusco (and we cannot wait to go back) I think we will stay at Rumi Punku again. Romantic, charming, affordable. Loved it. Internet in the room was spotty at best, but the office center was convenient and almost always had a computer free. Shower was hot and refreshing.

We were a group of 14 arriving on two different days. WE were met at the airport in Cuzco by the hotel and our rooms were ready for our late morning arrival. Staff was very accommodating and hotel very clean. First room we had (two of us) was spacious. Second room when we returned from Machu Picchu was smaller and a bit crowded, but fine for one night. Bedding warm and comfortable, warm showers in the morning and late afternoon and evening, heater worked fine for cool nights. Breakfast served early-5am until 10am with eggs to order and a variety of breads and fresh fruit. Very filling and never hurried. Spent lovely mornings with coffee and a book before leaving the hotel for the day. Purchased a large piece of pottery and asked the staff for help in packaging expecting them to send me to a store for supplies. They returned with a large box and pieces of cardboard which worked well. Appreciated their helpfulness. Location was great and just a short walk to the main square. Felt safe walking through this area with a group and alone. No trouble storing bags when traveled to Machu Picchu and they were placed in our room for our return. Would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Seems that second and third floor rooms may be more spacious. Had a first floor room across from th...

I would stay there again! Pros and Cons:

Pros:
- Clean
- Comfortable
- Great Cable TV selection. I know this sounds lame but as you're adjusting to the altitude, it is great to have the option of watching tv while you rest.
- High speed internet
- Yummy breakfast
- Very accommodating staff. We left our bags while we trekked and when we returned they had the bags waiting in our rooms for us. It could not have been easier.
- Helpful in getting reservations and tours
- Great location!

Cons: None

Other notes: Listen, this is not the hotel you write home about, but it's got everything you will need. We saw a variety of people staying, everyone from families with small kids to twenty-somethings. The hotel is quiet and all around easy. Not a complaint!

I was with a group of 5. Three of us shared a room and it was super spacious. The location was great, in between San Blas (Artist area) and the main square. It was quite at night but our heater did not work the best. Fortunately they provided down comforters. The shower/bathroom was spacious as well. Two of us got the hot rocks massage and it was fabulous.

Room Tip: Even if you don't get a room on the top floors, go up and use the patios.

We stayed at the Rumi Punku in April as part of a large and varied age group. The hotel was spotless, the staff were extremely helpful and breakfasts were excellent. We had immediate access to our rooms on arrival at 9am and were able to leave large pieces of luggage when we left for one night to visit Machu Picchu. On our return, our luggage had been placed in our room. Great service! I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, it was perfect.

Room Tip: Room 401 has stunning views if you can cope with lots of stairs (it was worth it!)
