“Good location, reasonable rooms”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2013

We felt that the location was excellent - right next to the Plaza de Armas, making most tourist sights well within walking distance.
There are provision shops all around so grocery and snacks are easily available.
Restaurants are within walking distance too.
Rooms are decently clean and sufficiently big.
Although the breakfast spread isn't too bad - with servings of omelette, meat, potatoes, bread and fruits.
Noisy though but it's in the heart of the city - so we kinda expected that.

Room Tip: We stayed in the room with a balcony and a room without a balcony. Generally felt that the room with...

We stayed at Hotel Royal Inka 1 upon our return from the Inca Trail trek. We were exhausted and looking forward to a nice shower and a good meal, neither of which Royal Inka 1 offered. The front desk staff was unorganized with our check in and it took them over an hour to make copies of our passports. Granted there were 7 rooms total, but they had our reservations months in advance and we had stayed at Royal Inka 2 a few days previously, which is the same ownership. The room was clean once we found it, room 608 is on the 2nd floor...? It is a quaint hotel with great little courtyards and character, but to say it's difficult to find your way around when you're exhausted would be an understatement. When we finally climbed into the shower it was barely a drizzle and the hot/cold water could not be regulated, it was either scalding or freezing. When we talked to the front desk they said they would give us another room, but at that point all of our gear was all over the room and we were checking out at 4 a.m. They offered no discount and argued with us, which was disappointing since it was about $100 U.S. We went to have dinner at the hotel and the waiter was a JERK. I ordered the ravioli and, no joke, it was spaghetti-o's. If you are looking for a friendly and a clean place to stay, Royal Inka 2 is a much better choice!!

I was pleased with my stay here during vacation in Peru. The building is quite old (Colonial) but in good repair and I thought it was charming with little indoor courtyards. The staff was very helpful in helping us call taxis when we needed them and loaned us a electrical converter so we could charge cell phones. The hotel is one block off Plaza de Armas which is a big plus. The location made it easy to walk to just about everything. I am a light sleeper so I always bring earplugs and eyemask. I was so tired from walking around Cusco and the altitude that it didn't matter. If you are one of those people that cant sleep in light, the transom above the door might bother you. But you could stuff a pillow up above the door to block the light. Like I said, I was so tired that the things that would normally bother me didn't. I would stay with them again.

We stayed here for several nights as a base when travelling to Macchu Pichu, Sacred Valley and the Amazon. The motel is clean and the rooms quite spacious. The building is 300 or so years old and is an interesting piece of history but it means that some of the rooms are quite difficult to access. We found it to be very noisy in most of the rooms. Most of the staff were very friendly and quite helpful - particularly Mario who helped us with luggage, taxi bookings and sorting out the overpriced (and overcharged) bar bill. The breakfast is generous but choices are quite limited for western tastes. I would not recommend using their bar - there are no prices posted and they change depending on the staff on at any given time. The location is definitely convenient and access to the airport is fairly quick - but again, be careful about taxi prices we got charged anything from $10 to $40 solos. We also had the unfortunate experience of the counter staff misplacing our key - telling us they did not have it and then after half an hour of frantic searching prior to airport departure it mysteriously appeared behind their counter with not even an apology from the girl on the counter.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms away from the street frontage - they all open into an internal courtyard which is nice...

We've stayed at the hotel for several nights visiting Cusco, Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley.
Location very good - just one block from Plaza de Armas.
Very helpful staff, even if not everybody speaks english.
Rooms - some nice enough, some very small with tiny bathroom and without windows, but clean.
Very noisy (there were people - guests? - very loud till late), and - I am very sorry to say this - there was a smell of rotten potato near the elevator, coming from the kitchen, during all the time we spent there.

Room Tip: Ask the receptionist to see the room before taking the key

We've stayed at quite a few grand old hotels in Cuba and South America and the Royal Inka 1 is by far the best. The entrance and lobby to these hotels is usually the only part that's grand but the Royal Inka's rooms are in good repair too. They were clean and well serviced. The thick walls of our side street room ensured a relatively quiet night. We found some of the reception staff a little aloof but the restaurant staff were very friendly, polite and helpful and made our dining experiences most enjoyable. The restaurant has good food with competitive prices. A night here is great value for money considering the excellent location. Sitting at a window in the entrance, sipping the on-tap free coca tea, watching the world go by, was also very enjoyable.

Stayed here a couple of nights when visiting Cusco and Machu Picchu. Mostly great location. One block form the Cusco Plaza de Armas, very central area, close to several restaurants, stores, Discos, banks etc.

Wi Fi is available, but very poor reception on the 3rd floor.
Staff and is very friendly and helpful, no complains there. Rooms are spacious and clean, comfortable. rather noisy, windows and doors are not sound proof. Good for peruvian standards, but you may not feel is good service if you compare this to a 3 star hotel in the USA

Overall this hotel is good for a short stay, Rooms are spacious and comfortable, a really good plus is that rooms have heater. Tip If you stay in another hotel 4 stars and below, make sure it has heated rooms. Many Hotels in Cusco do not have heated rooms and gets really cold at nights.

Be careful with the check out, it is 8:30am. Overall is a decent place to stay while in Cusco.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the stairs and elevator. . Street is quiet noisy if you want a room facing...
