We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. had a big room with a fantastic view and balcony. The Internet worked very well. The garden beautiful, and the staff made us feel at home. Breakfast was fine and the laundry service very cheap. We would like to return to this hotel!!

Room Tip: The room with the biggest balcony!

What a find! Only 2.5 blocks from the plaza de armas, located on a quiet street, sits this gem of an Inn. Upon entering you find yourself in a garden oasis. Rooms look out to the garden and the view of the city below. We stayed 5 nights here in two different rooms. The rooms were well designed with tasteful touches. The beds were comfortable and we were give extra comforters to stay warm in the cold Cusco nights. There is also a space heater for use. The bathroom was spacious and supplied daily with new soaps, shampoo, and new towels. We spent evenings looking out over the city on the comfortable benches on the balcony. We could also see fireworks from there. Wifi also was fastest outside the room, working quickly and allowing us to easily use Skype to call home.

Breakfast was a daily highlight. Warm bread, eggs, cereal, yogurt, fruit, freshly squeezed juices, along with a selection of teas and coffee.

What made this Hotel/Inn stand out was how nice everyone was. They seemed genuinely happy to see us every day and were very helpful with all questions we had.

It was a pleasure to stay here and we were sad to go! I'd highly recommend staying here.

It's also worth noting the Hotel/Inn is near laundry shops, a new grocery store, and very close to the center of town.

We traveled in Peru for a month. We really liked El Balcon, the rooms were rustic, and quaint. We booked in on a recommendation of some travellers we met in Iquitos. The room had a stellar balcony to watch the Sun come up. There is a great common area/room, open 24 hsr, with water, hot water for Coca tea, Coffee. The cocoa tea was especially helpful for my wife who got altitude sickness. El Balcon is a minutes walk to the El Centro, and is a quiet quaint hotel, and the walk is nice (there is a hill).

The staff were more than helpful, and we did our Machu Picchu tour with a tour company on site. Unfortunately the tour company booked us with a sketchy bus for our various tours that kept stopping at side stands to get us to buy stuff. This wouldn't be bad but it cut into our time for the exploration of the actual places we wanted to visit like the sacred Valley and a few others. They refunded our unused tours and apologised. We would probably book travel with them again but hire a private guide as the guides just grouped all the English speakers from all over into one super group (over 45 people) for one guide. Needless to say we didn't get to ask questions or learn much.

We stumbled upon El Balcon and what a find it was! El Balcon has a rustic charm and the building surrounds a lovely little garden. We stayed in a second floor room which was very comfortable and had awesome views of the city right outside of our door. Also, they provide a full complimentary breakfast including eggs, juice, and fruit which was wonderful after many breakfasts of solely bread and marmalade. On top of it all, the staff was very friendly and helpful!

This inn had the Peruvian charm of an old farmer's villa with a small courtyard, big wooden doors and log beams. My husband and I stayed in a double room for our five nights in Cusco, before and after our overnight trip to Machu Picchu. It was a little drafty, but the heater kept us really warm at night, and the bed had more than enough blankets to keep any girl warm. We did have to bring the heater to the bathroom in the morning, because it got really cold in there at night, but the shower was always warm.

The breakfast is freshly made with eggs, and there's coca tea all day long, which is really helpful for altitude sickness. The front desk was really helpful and gave us directions everywhere, and even told us that Saqsayhuaman was a walk away, granted with much climbing. The hotel is located at the top of a hill, which I have to admit was exhausting the first days while we were adjusting, and not recommended for those with trouble walking, but it was worth it for the view. We just called it practice for Machu Picchu. One thing that was extremely annoying was that it was cash only, and I had to go to the ATM to get some out, and paid far too much in fees. We got no warning that it would be cash only until we checked out. Luckily we had time to go to the bank before our flight to Lima.
