Lovely rooms with character, heating in rooms takes the chill off being in Cusco and is nice to return to. No problems with hot water or WiFi. Location is perfect, in san blas but close enough to pop back up to from the Centre of town without climbing too many stairs or encountering the many stray dogs in the higher part of san blas, also close to many of Cusco's best and most interesting restaurants. Staff were friendly, attentive and very helpful. We enjoyed our stay here very much. Pick up and drop off to the airport included and good variety of food at breakfast.

Room Tip: Get one of the rooms higher up that does not face onto chocechaka

We loved staying here. Spent 4 nights. Great location, friendly staff, nice room with balcony overlooking street. Quiet. great breakfast, sometimes on the 4th floor with a wonderful view. This is a small hotel, which we prefer.

I had the pleasure of spending three night in Los Apus while in Cusco for the first time. I booked a bit last minute and nevertheless had an excellent service and the driver who picked me up at the airport was there on time waiting regardless of the flight delay I had. The staff was very friendly and eager to make me feel at home and help me enjoy Cusco to the maximum in the short time frame I had. They helpe me organize my trip to Machu Pichu and tour to see the city. The room was very clean and fully renovated. I think overall it was a great choice to stay at Los Apus and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking to have a great experience in Cusco! Next time I'll visit the city I'll definitely stay in Los Apus again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony, the balcony is very nice!

The staff at this hotel is so accommodating and helpful, the rooms are great and the breakfast is yummy. It's a good central, but quiet location and they are very oriented to trekkers, understanding what is needed and how to accommodate.

Room Tip: The rooms are little small if you have a lot of gear, so ask for a big one.

Wonderful little hotel located walking distance from the main square in Cusco. Yummy breakfast with eggs and fruit and cereals and more daily starting at 5am, or earlier if you leave for a trek or tour at an earlier hour. Service in phenomenal, rooms are comfortable with heat, hot water and great beds and available tea at all hours of the day and night! The hotel is pretty and well maintained. This is not a fancy 5 star hotel but it is unpretentious, clean, quiet, and everything was in really great working order.

Los Apus is a quaint modest hotel. We really enjoyed our stay there. The building features Inca stone walls and traditional architecture. The rooms are small, but adequate.

A tasty breakfast buffet is served daily starting at 5am. There is great variety and good quality of food including custom made eggs, breads, cereals, yogurt fruit, meat, cheese etc.

The front desk staff are friendly and helpful and were very patient with my Spanish. They also speak English well.

The location is good. It's quiet and only a 5 minute walk from the main square.

When choosing a lodging choice in Cusco, one must first decide which part of town in which you would like to stay. The two most common choices are on or near the Plaza which is louder from traffic and people, or in San Blas which means lots of stairs every time one comes or goes to the room. As we were staying for three nights, the location of Los Apus was the ideal compromise. It is located a short five minute walk to the Plaza ( half of the route is down the quaint walking street where the 12 famous sided wall stone is located ) in a much quieter area ( the entrance is also located on a walking street; traffic only passes on one side of the building, and it is fairly lightly traveled ), and additionally it is located at the very beginning of San Blas ( said entrance street to the hotel takes you directly up to SB ). So you have the peace and quietude together with the immediate access to both SB and the Plaza, w/o any steps.

We were fortunate enough to be placed in the corner room on the third floor, which had a private balcony that had I believe the best views on offer, over the rooftops of the adjacent buildings to the surrounding foothills of Cusco, dotted with houses. It also was the most private room as the others open to a common hallway, and have windows facing said hallway, where people walk by coming and going. This room had a private entrance that no one could walk by, as you had to actually exit the main building to a small balcony to reach the entrance door of the room. It sounds odd, but it was actually quite cool. There were a double set of French doors which opened to the private balcony, but if you want them closed, the top half, Dutch style, opens to a window in each door, making for a great view and plenty of natural light.

The room was just the right size- cozy but with enough room to settle in with your belongings w/o tripping over them the entire time. There is an in room safe, an in room heating unit, and a vaulted ceiling of exposed wood beams that added character to the room. The overall feel of the Los Apus was very comfortable, and was splendidly decorated with local flair.

If this is in your budget, I give it a good recommendation. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here for three nights. Just be sure to choose your room and know what you book, as some of the rooms are "loft style", where there is a small sitting room on one floor, and the beds are up a small flight of stairs on a different level.

Pros:
1. Location. See above for elaboration.
2. Décor. Tasteful, and very pretty.
3. English speaking front desk staff, always helpful.
4. The included breakfast was generous.
5. Locked front main door at all times, must be buzzed to get in.
6. Being afforded the best room in the house.

Cons:
1. They did run out of propane the first night, which meant a loss of heat during the night ( not really a problem when we stayed ) but it did necessitate a cold shower in the morning. The propane was delivered during our breakfast at 9 a.m. though this was a preventable occurrence.
2. Laundry service was per item ( with Swiss hotel pricing well beyond the relative cost of the room ) and also included a 10% service charge, plus 19% tax.
3. This was the only hotel in our trip around Peru that actually charged a 10% resort fee ( dubbed a "service fee" ) on top of the room rate. They would not budge on the removal of the fee, and I also stayed at a considerably more expensive suite in Lima that didn't charge this fee, as well as another hotel of comparable pricing that did not charge the fee, either.
4. The Wi-Fi was horrible and cut our or refused to connect intermittently, despite there being a router twenty feet from our room.

Considerations:
1. It is a compromise location if you are actually wanting to be IN San Blas; you are right on the cusp. The benefit is no stairs, but the detraction is that you don't get the true feel of S.B.
2. Take advantage of their free airport pick up service; we arrived from Olly by taxi and he had a difficult time locating the hotel as the address is of the walking side street, which is not listed by name on most maps.
3. Account for your additional fees, which you will be charged. This was slightly distasteful, as if they simply increased their room rate by 10% it would have seemed less "nickel and dimey" than a resort fee ( or as they call it, a service fee, though for what is beyond me). This is not a reason to not book into here, just something to be aware of.
4. Understand what type and location of room you will be getting; on top of the loft style rooms I previously described, there is also first floor rooms which will be considerable louder due to the traffic of the main room, used for the front desk as well as early breakfast.
