Doña Maria makes this place special. She kindly organized our pick up in the airport and received us with coca tea and the best advices to survive Cusco. The room were ok, we would love to have a heater but in reality the beds have like four layers so you sleep really warm and nice. Great and powerful hot water, is amazing. I stayed in two different rooms, before and after the Inca Trail. Doña Maria kindly looked after our huge bags while we were on it. The best room for a couple is the 201. Doña Maria also made breakfast before the regular time so we could have something nice before the trip. She recommended us a non-touristic fantastic restaurant called Señor Carbón and we really appreciated everything she did for us. If I ever come back to Cusco, I won't hesitate in staying there once again.

Room Tip: 201 is warmer, have a better bed and pillows...

This hotel had just about the nicest and most helpful service of any I've ever been in (50+ countries). They tended to my wife's altitude sickness with coca tea and sympathy, served breakfast extra-early to accommodate our schedules, dispensed very helpful advice (to make sure one had Machu Picchu tickets in advance!), and kindly and efficiently arranged arrival and departure and logistics -- they have a super-nice, patient, and well-informed cab driver they work with, I highly recommend him! The hotel itself has is very clean, quiet and pleasant throughout, and the location is convenient to various sites and scenic parts of town. Run stay there!

This hostel in the San Blas area of Cuzco was quiet, and the owner was very sweet. The private matrimonial suite had a lovely view and the bed was very comfortable. Didn't wake early enough for the breakfast, and never really used the shower (our one try resulted in about 3 minutes of warm water followed by ice cold- but we never addressed this with the hostel and hot water may have just needed to be turned on). The owner arranged for our laundry to be cleaned and I was amazed at the integrity of both her/the staff, and the laundry service, when my change purse (which I had "hidden" in a dirty sock- hidden even from myself apparently) was returned with the clean laundry (and with all of my money still inside). Only complaint is that at night it gets freezing cold in the room.

Maria, the owner is a really sweet and caring woman who made our stay very pleasant since the beginning. She arranged cab pickups for us at the airport and let us have a very early check in with no extra charge. The room had beautiful views of Cusco. After the first night we woke up very late since we were tired from our travels and she kindly made us breakfast even though it was over, and the rest of our stay she was helpful and kind and kept our bags safe while we treked. Bring warm clothes cause it get really cold, she puts the heating in the rooms the afternoon and many blankets but Cusco is a cold city. The neighborhood where Kuntur Wasi is is great, my favorite in Cusco, many stuff around to explore.

We used the Kuntur Wasi as our base camp in Cuzco while we were doing acclimatization hikes around the city (5 nights), and after our Ausangate trek (1 night).

The hotel location is fine, near Saksayhuaman, the San Blas restaurants and pastry shops, and within walking distance of the Plaza de Armas.

The shower is hot; hotel is clean but could do with heating.

Maria is very welcoming and helpful, available to help plan trips around the city.

We booked in Kuntur Wasi on the basis of all the positive reviews on this site. We arrived early at around 5:30 am and were allowed to check in as pre arranged. We were two couples and were unfortunately shown different types of matrimonial rooms for the same price - one being far better than the other. (we got the better room option). The owner, Maria is very sweet but for 90 soles, I feel it was not worth the value. It was very cold in the room and there was no option to rent a heater. The view from the room was lovely but the window had a lot of gaps making it very cold. The bathroom was minuscule and the ventilation for the bathroom led to an indoor corridor. Breakfast was basic and included one boiled egg. There is a fireplace downstairs but no real chilling area. We found a cheaper and better option down the road for 60 soles at Pakcha Real.

We made an advance reservation for this hostel for a two night stay but left after the first night. The matrimonial room we had booked was tiny and very cold and nothing like the pictures on the website. There are nicer rooms in the hostel but these were not available and so were moved to a twin room. The price for both was 90 soles which compared to nearby hostels and the one we moved to for 60 soles makes this hostel overpriced. The owner is friendly and the breakfast OK but this hostel is just not good value for money.
