“Superb atmosphere, great place!”

Hostal Wara Wara is a very nice place to stay. We felt very welcome and more like staying with friends not in the hostal. Rooms and bathrooms are spacious, cleaned every day. The best breakfast during our trip to Peru, prepared specially for us every day. Beautiful view of Cusco. Free wifi. The hostal is on the hill so you need to be prepared to walk few steps. We did not mind it at all as we had no altitude problems.

We had a fantastic stay at Wara Wara. Miguel and Vivianna are a warm and hospitable couple, and really make you feel like a guest in their home. They made us coco tea (we must have had 10 cups in 3 days!), made restaurant reservations for us, called taxis, and served a great breakfast.

The hotel itself is on an elevated hill, so you get sweeping views of Cusco and the main square, Plaza de Armas - sometimes right from your room. There are stairs going down that can get you to the square in 10-15 minutes, so the location is fantastic.

Price point is highly reasonable as well.

Room Tip: Rooms 1,2 have better wi-fi in the room.

We stayed at Wara Wara for a total of 5 nights between trips to Macchu Picchu and the Amazon. Miguel and Viviana are brilliant hosts. They made us feel right at home, offering lots of local advice, cooking great satisfying meals, and also offering to store our luggage for a week on 2 occasions. The location of Wara Wara is superb with a birds eye view of the nearby Plaza de Armas, and extending over the city. Having walked around in Cusco a bit, we found this general location very appealing, and were constantly amazed at the narrow paved streets / steps leading to the B&B. We even had the pleasure of enjoying a local Cusco band 'in house' on our last night - which was a highlight of our stay.

We spent 5 nights at Hostal Wara Wara. We chose it after seeing the Tripadvisor reviews, and the reviews are well-earned. Without doubt, about the best B&B we've ever stayed at. The location is fantastic, on a hill with a spectacular view of the city, just a short walk from the Plaza de Armas and Sacsahuayman The owners, Miguel and Viviana, are very friendly and helpful. One night during our stay they even arranged to have an Andean music group come in and play and they made a delicious dinner (a special vegetarian one for us). The rooms were comfortable, there's a spacious sitting area, and a balcony overlooking the city. Highly recommended.

The goods:
1.) The managers are awesome. They are super helpful, they give you any advice that you need, they know a lot about the town/area, and they are great cooks!
2.) The view from the hostal makes for great photos.
3.) There are plenty of nice, warm,
Blankets stocked in the room
4.) They store your luggage for you if you're hiking the Inca Trail. (Even ski bags, like we had since we were skiing in Chile next.)
5.) A great relaxing area with a very good wifi connection and good music playing.
6.) It's close to the main tourist area and center of the town.

A heads up:
1.) It can be cold in some of the rooms as one room we had was colder than another. BUT, in talking with other tourists, this seemed to be common in Cusco hotels/hostals.
2.) They have a baby and we were told to be quiet while we waited to get picked up at 5:00am for the Inca Trail. (I would have waited outside but we were instructed not to by the tour group). I didn't even think we were being loud so this just means to me that if you're a partier, this is not the place for you if you like to stumble home late on holidays.
3.) The bathrooms could use a floor mat to stand on as your feet get cold on the tiles.

And finally in regards to those who said there are a lot of steps to get to Wara Wara, this is true but please tell me you're not too lazy to climb some stairs. My husband and I did the Inca Trail without any altitude sickness pills and one reason was because we took it easy, strolling around Cusco for 3 days including climbing those stairs many times. It's good exercise (but don't forget to drink at least a liter of water a day.)

The couple who owns this business are incredibly warm and helpful. Their young son is the happiest baby in the world and their dog is a complete sweetheart (and I am not generally enthusiastic about dogs nor babies). A short 10 minute walk from the Plaza de Armas, the view from the balcony and common area gives you an amazing view of Cusco and the hills. Breakfasts were filling and delicious including real coffee, bread, butter, jam, an omelette and a smoothie/fresh juice. The walls are quite thin so it's fairly noisy, although it did not prevent us from sleeping as we pleased. Also, there isn't much ventilation which keeps the bathrooms moist. They graciously kept our extra bags during our Inca Trail trek. I highly recommend this accommodation.

Room Tip: The room areound the corner from the common area may be quieter.

We stayed for a total of 6 nights at Hostal Wara Wara and left in the middle to hike Machu Picchu. The hostel has more of a bed and breakfast feel than a hostel. There are only a few rooms and they all have a private bath. The rooms are basic, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is also served everyday in the common room. We were able to leave our bags at the hostel and weren't worried about them at all. The young couple who run this hostel are warm, friendly and helpful. Hostal Wara Wara is located a short walk from the Plaza de Armas, but be advised that it is a steep walk up a hill to get there. In the end, though, the walk is worth it, as the view of the city is amazing! I would absolutely recommend this hostel to people looking for a friendly, comfortable experience while in Cusco!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room #7 and it was very quiet. We slept well every night.
