Really liked this place. The menu can be a bit hit and miss, but the coffee is great. I visited several times for the house speciality Cafe Punchay (vanilla flavoured coffee)
The waffles are good, as is the bruschetta, but we weren't keen on the cheese used to top the pasta dishes. As everything is prepared fresh, be prepared to wait a bit ( but that's pretty much true of many good cafés in Cusco)

There is a free movie night on Tuesdays.

The friendly , smiley service lifts this place above the coffee places around the square.

The day after we climbed Machu Picchu, which was our last morning in Cusco, we wandered into this café for a mocha and were not disappointed. It was pricey, yes, but we were not going to order more than a cup o' joe, jump on the free Wi-Fi, and enjoy the outdoor terrace. Our mocha (I think I ordered the Mexican, as it had cinnamon added) was served in beautiful terra cotta mugs. The surrounding flora was in bloom, and made for a most relaxing pause in our rush to get to the airport. It was just what we were looking for: coffee and tranquility.

My husband Peter and I found Café Punchay by accident as we were strolling back from San Blas. For some reason, we were attracted by the sign and the entry gate, so we walked in and up the steps to find a lush upper courtyard filled with tables and an eclectic group of people eating and chatting or focused on laptops or other electronic devices. We were not yet ready for a meal but we made a note of the place to return to later and were glad we did. In fact, we ate, visited the Pre-Columbian Museum then returned for Pisco sour happy hour. The prices were reasonable ---not cheap like I think many Western travelers expect--- for the amount and quality of the food.

The space and tempo are casual and laid back and, at least on the day we dined, seems to attract international backpackers. Perhaps that is due to the hearty healthy food that is also available as boxed meals for hikers, and the feel of home in which lingering is allowed, even encouraged, as evidenced by the comfortable seating and the many games, books and other activities scattered about the space. The staff is very friendly and accommodating to gringos like us who stumble through a bit of Spanish. (The menu is available in English, too.) I had a tasty vegetarian baguette ---from which there were many to choose--- and Peter ordered the six potatoes, which we could have easily shared and been plenty satisfied. We finished the meal with a great cup of coffee to get us through the rest of our afternoon before our return for happy hour.

I highly recommend Café Punchay both for its food and ambiance, which offers a much needed respite from the frenzy that is Cusco.

Good salad, coffee cocktails (!), and potatoes as a specialty - very interesting and good! Also the waffles are great. Music is western, a good mix of the 90ies and 00s. Prices are not cheapo, but very ok for Cusco.
