“Great staff and location”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

Great staff and location, clean, great breakfast if you want it and close to Plaza de Armnas, only a few problems, very noisy, when people come into the hostal, you can hear everything that is said, when people are in the dinning area on the upper level and talking, it is as if they are in your room talking, that is how loud it is, people walking the stairs to their rooms are noisy and many times you are woken up at night or very early in the morning. When I stayed it had been raining very hard on a few days and water was entering the hostal that was cleaned quickly. As for the staff, they did do a good job, but it seems they were in a relationship and spent a great deal of time watching movies on their laptop or the hostels desktop computer, they also would could dinners in the kitchen late at night and at times very noisy, not sure if they still work for the place, beside these issues, overall the place is good for 1 or 2 nights. It should be noted that these issues took place over 1 year ago........

Room Tip: It is best to stay in the rear of the hostel so that you are far from the entrance and kitchen for l...

We had a fantastic stay here, the hostal in located in the old part of town - a fantastic location.

The owner is so helpful, she couldn't do enough for you. She helped us work out the best way to do Machu Picchu (as we were driving).

Breakfast is great, fresh juice, REAL coffee, coca tea, eggs, bread & jam.

Bedrooms are really clean, bathroom was small but super clean.

The only critic was that it can be noisy as all bedroom windows face out onto reception/central area.

Would highly recommend.

The service was excellent. Location is great. Breakfast very meager, coffee with either bread or one egg. All the rooms surround the dining area and you can hear every little sound made by guests and staff. Seemed to be quiet from 11PM until 5AM.

Room Tip: Downstairs rooms seem to be a bit quieter but ours had sewage smell. We also stayed upstairs where t...

This hotel is an outstanding place to stay. You have an amazing 270°view over Cuzco and the mountains in the main restaurant. They will give you free mate coca unlimited which is fresh and delicious. The rooms are very clean. The personnel is really attentive. I remember, we were back at the hotel at 1am and the receptionist kindly made us something to drink and for free.
The owner is such a warm and kind person. I had travelled among 27 countries and this is hotel is definitely one of the best that I may recommend.

Having just left the hostel today I already want to comment on this place. What a GEM! The hostel is down a side street but do not be out off when you drive up to the place, we were greeted at 10am by Stella, the owner who sat us in the dining area (with great views) and gave us cocoa tea whilst she finished cleaning our room. This place is more of a guest house than a hostel, so friendly and welcoming. Breakfast seems to be standard in Peru, eggs with a bread basket. Whilst in cusco we did a 5 day trek, Stella was happy to keep our luggage stored away safely for us during this time. The rooms are basic but with wooden floors and orange duvet covers it felt very homely. The hostel is a 3-4 minute walk from the main square, great location, stella assured us on arrival not to worry about it being down a street as there are families with young children live close by so it's quiet and safe at night (it was!) I would recommend anyone to stay here, hopefully one day I'll return. Thanks Stella!

An ideal place for backpackers or people on a budget, who don't want to stay in dorms. We stayed for 5 nights at a really affordable price (80 soles per night for a double en suite).

It's 5 minutes walk from the main square, in a quiet cobbled back street, and the lady who runs the place is super friendly. The breakfasts were fine (for Peru) and the common area had great views over the roofs of cuzco.

A great budget option.

My parents, senior citizens, just visited Cusco and Machupicchu and stayed in Hostal El Labrador. I reserved this hostal because of the good reviews I read here. Ms Estela, the manager was always very kind by phone and in person when I did the travel arrangements. She treated my parents with special care, gave them a room on first floor and helped them to coordinate all their tours. My parents experience was a success thanks to the overwhelming kindness of Ms Estela. Hostal El Labrador is a basic lodging facility closed enough to Plaza de Armas, breakfast included, clean, hot coca tea always available and you can make arrangements for pick up and drop off from airport/hotel/ train station or your tours.
I highly recommend Hostal El Labrador for its location and warm customer service. Thank you Estela!!!!
