Not only was the food excellent but the service was fantastic. Add to that the low key live musicians (not blasting you out of you seat but gentle background music) and the ambiance in a castle like setting with rich tapestries and paintings on the walls, and cap that off with the ability to go back to where your desert is being prepared as the chef walks you through the artistry of his work as he does it and you have the making of a truly fine meal.

We stayed at the hotel and dined here one of the nights the opera preformed. The food was just bland. The chicken soup was fine, but something I could make at home. There were only 4 tables seated so the opera was uncomfortable to watch. We were almost racing to not be the last table in there. You felt bad because the staff is so nice and attentive. The opera was beautiful, but again uncomfortable for such a small audience.

We´re staying at Monasterio, so we "elected" one special night to have dinner at the Hotel.
What adisappointment.
The service was not an Orient Express Standard at all.
Waiter was kind of unpolite, drop the wine, broght the napking with his own hands, not with the cuttlery...but okay, that was not the problem.
The food..well it was good really good actually, but again the service, made our night a disaster.
We chose boeuf bourguignon for two, after he serviced us, Hejust took the plate back to the kitchen without asking us if we want to have some more...There was still half of the dish.We dont eat a "full plate" in a elegant place like this...
My friend asked for a Steak Bearnaise, but the sauce arrived after minutes after the steak.
Again the waiter..."I forgot this"
After complaining the Maitre (Very Gentle I have to Say) didn´t charged us the food, but when you choose a special place, for a special dinner and something like this happens...
The magic is gone!
It was a pitty!
In such a Unique Hotel, this should NEVER happen!
