“Great stay for a great price”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

Very nice clean hotel with pleasant helpful courteous staff. Found this hotel on booking.com and the price was great and comparable and competitive with other hotels. A short walk to the plaza from the hotel but the price and cleanliness compensated for the distance from the plaza. I would stay there again.

Such a bargain. Large, clean and modern rooms with excellent staff. Location was great too - just a few steps away from Plaza de Arms, restaurants, shops, etc. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Made our stay in Cusco wonderful!

Stayed here with a friend in a double room for 2 nights before and 1 night after our trek to Machu Picchu. Hotel was well located, walking distance (few blocks) to the main Plaza Armaz and other hotels, restaurants, and shops including the locals markets. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful, and generally easy to communicate with as most spoke very good English. Requests (extra blanket) were quickly acted upon. They stored one bag during our trek, and had it waiting for us in the room upon our return. I paid on-line for the room and encountered no problems or questions regarding either the reservation or the pre-payments.
Breakfast was perfectly adequate with self-serve drinks, fruit, yoghurt, cereals and warm tamales and sausages (the latter are well-hidden in the warming pots at the far end of the food table!) The food was served from 5-10am to accommodate trekkers. One morning, the fruit and coffee were mostly gone, but if you ask (or wait), the waiter will bring more.
The first room we had on the second floor was bright and spacious, and despite overlooking the street was amazingly quiet due to thick silencing windows. During our next stay, we were given a 3rd (top) floor room with a slanted attic roof (definitely do NOT want this room if you are tall) and was much noisier mainly due to some ventilation openings in the bathroom roof that could not be closed off. Rooms facing towards the Plaza would have a view of the fireworks, although they might be noisier in general due to the bands and parties. There seemed to be a party or celebration of some kind in Cusco every night we were there. Both rooms and the hotel in general were very clean and the beds in both rooms were comfy with nice blankets, which you certainly need if visiting during the colder seasons.
Strongly suggest that you carry the hotel's address along with you, as there are multiple Tierra Viva hotels in Cusco, and both times we were taken to the wrong hotel (once by a taxi and once by the shuttle). The hotel quickly took care of this by hailing another taxi and paying the driver in advance to get us to the proper "Centro" location, even though it was not really their fault. Impressive!
There are many hotel options in Cusco, but when shopping for one I looked for a hotel in a good location that was quiet, and had a competitive rate that included breakfast. Tierra Viva Cusco Centro ticked all the boxes. I was very happy with the outcome, and would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Avoid slanted ceiling attics rooms if you are tall. Second floor room was very quiet. Rooms facing...

Absolutely loved this hotel. The staff were extremely professional and friendly with good English. The organised everything perfectly and were always very attentive. We advised the hotel that it was our honeymoon and our room was decorated with rose petals, chocolates and fresh fruit. It was so sweet. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Bathroom was small but nice. Really happy with our stay here. Breakfast was nice- a selection of breads and a few pastries, fresh fruit & juices, eggs and cereals. I also liked the selection of teas available throughout the day to drink. Very cute hotel with lots of character. Highly recommend to anyone staying in Cuzco.

Easy to get around. Close to the market, tourist centre and the street shops for the locals.

We came back a night early from Aguas Calientes because we liked the Tierra chain so much.
The service was superb. They organise taxis so easily and ensured all rates were fair.

Good selection for breakfast.

We stayed in the double withe a bath in the private bathroom.

Would stay here again.

We stayed two nights at Tierra Viva and it surpassed every expectation we had, especially since it was cheaper than the other hotels we considered. The bathrooms were very new and the rooms were modern and nice. It was a couple blocks from the main plaza that you can walk to. The staff was super friendly and helpful with any questions that we had. Transportation from the airport is included but not back to the airport but that was cheap and very easy to get a taxi back to the airport. The breakfast was great in the morning and served early in case you are leaving to Machu Picchu in the early a.m. I would stay here again and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking in Cusco.

In the taxi on the way to our hotel, it felt like it was far from the Plaza de Armas but really, it's only about a 5 minute walk from the Plaza so it's centrally located. The hotel is beautiful, modern, there are gorgeous canvas Peruvian photos all over the walls (the 2 alpacas in the waiting room are so cute!), and the bed in our room was HUGE! It looked like 1.5 King sized beds in one bed. The room was clean, modern, big, the bathroom was clean, and great. We got free bottled water in the room and there was free coca and mountain mint tea in the lobby which helped with the high elevation. When we came back at night, the front door was locked but you just have to ring the bell, the front desk has cameras, and then he let us in. Helps keep the rif raf out I guess, made the hotel feel very safe. The morning breakfast had a lot of options and was very good. The mangoes that morning were SO SWEET AND GOOD! I think I went back at least 3 times to get more. I can taste them again now . . . A great hotel to stay in while in Cusco.

Just a word to those new to Peru, please try to acclimate to the high elevation down in the Sacred Valley and NOT in Cusco which is the highest elevation place you can be. It would suck if you got altitude sick here and weren't able to make and enjoy Machu Picchu after paying so much money to get to Peru.
