Stay here! Amazing woodwork in every room, beautiful courtyards with awesome views and flowers, free wi-fi, free airport pick-up, free breakfast and a great location in town. My fiance and I requested a matrimonial (double) room and received a great room with a queen sized bed downstairs, as well as a second single bed in a large upstairs loft. The friends we were traveling with requested a double room with separate beds and received a room with a third bed for no additional charge. Each room is different, but many are very large and all have character. The staff is also extremely accommodating.

The location and value of this hotel can not be beat. Lovely courtyard with views over San Blas. Generous breakfast. Hot water 24/7. Right in the center of everything, yet a quiet oasis away from the hustle and bustle. I highly recommend this place for the value. I don't see how it could be beat. My only complaint is that they wouldn't hold reservations for us until we came and stayed for the first night, so the rooms filled up and we had to leave before we wanted to.

Very clean if a little basic. Very near the centre but on the hill so good exercise coming back from town. The first room we had was on the ground floor near the reception and only had a small window so if you want privacy you get darkness as the lights were not strong and you get a bit of a noise from people coming in but nothing too bad. Shower pressure was great. The whole place is very clean and they have free coca tea in the courtyard although the flask was often empty. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was good but if you are heading out and are pressured for time you might want to go early as we had to wait each time as there was only one person serving. The breakfast room is beautiful old style with great views if a little cold in the morning.
Next time I would probably stay first couple of nights in a nicer hotel with room service etc.. as during acclimatizing we got tired quite quickly and spend more time in the room than usual. But coming back from the trek and only staining a night before a flight home is fine (that time we had a nice room upstairs with big window and more space). The laundry service was great too-same day service- but you can get it half the price down the road in independent laundry places.

The Amaru is a very pretty and clean hotel in the San Blas area. It´s a very short walk to the Plaza, and it´s only at the beginning of a hill so not a challenging hike like to quite a few other Cuzco hotels. Room 110 is a bit like a grotto, the rear wall is a retaining stone wall holding back the hill so it seems, but other rooms will be ok or you might even like this rustic feature. Room rates include a free airport pickup but not from the bus station, "too complicated" I was told, and it was impossible to trade this for a simple breakfast which would have been nice upon my arrival in the early hours. Still, a good choice and fair value for Cuzco. Free Wifi in rooms. Wooden floors. Colibris visit the garden frequently.

This hostal has gorgeous outdoor areas with lots of couches to chill out. The rooms are very large & my 1 fault with them is there is only cold water in the sink, no hot water, akward for guys shaving. It is in a lovely location, with lots of nice bars & restaurants around.
