“Excellent service and value”

The owners Vito and his wife and good people who work hard to meet guest needs. Room was fine. Even though the room I stayed in faced the road, it wasn't so noisy because of double glazing. Hot water reliable. Breakfast OK, coffee very good. Location is convenient for van to Urubamba and Ollantaytambo. San Pedro's market is nearby. View of Cristo Blanca at night. Vito booked the taxi for me. He arrived on time and delivered me to the terminal.”

The room was very nice and pretty new. A little loudly. Hot water was good and worked all day long. The housekeeper moved our staff everyday and closed our bags, it was not ok. And the staff tried to sell their Machu Pichu Tours to us too many times. It is a 10 minutes walk to Plaza Armas.

I got to Cusco, initially planing to stay in tayta wasi hostel for about a week, based on their above par reviews and pricing it seemed like a good choice.

Having gotten there after an overnight bus to cusco, and once checked into the room at tayta wasi together with my other two travel mates, we decided to take a restful nap. One that ended with me, having all my uncovered by my clothes areas completely bitten by something-dont know if it was bed bugs, fleas, or any other grotesque creature.

After alerting the hostel owners at tayta wasi, and having them reassure me that they would change everything in the bed, i proceeded to spend another whole night in the creature ridden bed, when this time my hands got the most of it.

When i brought up the issue with the owners of tayta wasi, it turned out that they changed most of the things-not the mattress-where most of these creatures reside. And when pointing it out to the owners at tayta wasi, they answered back with many arguments, among them:

-That i probably brought the fleas with me.
-That Colombians(me being one) have always been complaining and are whiny.
-That we should look into other accommodation options.

The thing that bothered me the most was their dishonesty, saying that they had changed the mattress when they didnt, and another price scam/fine print issue where they didnt deliver on their promise. Dont get me started

Oh, and they wanted to charge us 3 soles for cooking dinner in their kitchen, which is included as one of their amenities.

Stay far far away from this hostel, there are many great options in the city, Their location is also very poor, on top of a highway intersection in a mediocre part of town. And their hot water has a life of its own.

good travels to all
