“Good value for money ”
Reviewed 22 July 2014 via mobile

Had a surprisingly good stay for 26usd for private double room per night.

Pros:
- very helpful staff
- looked after our luggage whilst we were in machu picchu.
- clean and comfortable room
- excellent hot shower which was so great after machu picchu...
- super fast wifi.
- massive clean kitchen
- good laundry service..

Cons
- 20 min walk to the main square.
- poor breakfast of eggs and bread. We didn't enjoy the omelette. Good coffee though
- room was a bit cold but they gave us a heater which was great. Fine after this

Thank you!

It's been some time I've stayed there, and I have good and bad things to point out. The shower was hot during the day, but at night wasn't the same, the water would get cold if you stayed more than 20 mins on the shower. Location's not the best item, it's a 15 mins walk from the Plaza de Armas and the area is not pretty. Great owners, very kind people, always willing to help, always very nice, even landed us their umbrella once. They change dollars for nuevos soles without taxes. Also the lady who makes your breakfast is very nice. Wi-fi's great. If you get a little late you might have to wait so they let you in because they have a little room where they sleep behind the reception. Really big cold rooms, they have great blankets though, but they should have heaters someday. I enjoyed staying there, the price was great, we had a lovely time, but location is very important and you can get good prices in hotels closer to the Plaza de Armas.

We stayed here twice in May 2014. The first time for 11 nights and because we liked it so much we returned for a second time for 4 nights. The accommodations are more of a hotel than a hostel. There are no dorm rooms and all rooms have private bathrooms. The staff was friendly. It was very clean (cleaner than many of the hotels in Canada). The Wifi was good. Showers were always hot. Breakfast (egg, toast, jam and tea) was included. Kitchen was available for self-catering. Located about 20 minutes from Plaza de Armas, just outside the tourist area. We enjoyed the walk. Walls were thin but was much quieter than the two other hotels we stayed at in the Sacred Valley (ask for a room that faces the courtyard rather than the road). Excellent value

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the courtyard rather than the main road to reduce noise

We showed up one day before our reservation for two nights and although we had to transfer to another room the following day they were flexible to make ready a three bed room for us. It sounded nice, but in the end it was quite a hassle to move our stuff since the other room was not ready yet, but we could leave our packed bags and the staff would move it. However, when we returned late afternoon we needed to ask the staff about our bags and the person on duty didn't know anything about it, so it took quite a while before we got our bags again.

We specifically chose this location because we needed to be at a location around the corner the following day. If we had been here on a tourist visit, we'd chosen to stay closer to the main square, although of course it doesn't take so long on foot either to reach it (15-20mins).

An average for the sleep quality because we could hear the doorbell at night in our room quite loud.

An average in total, since you'll pay more or less the same for a hotel room much closer to the main square with the same service.

More of a hotel than a hostel in terms of layout and facilities yet with nice big kitchen for guests to use, dining area and roof terrace. Extremely friendly and helpful staff who welcomed us back as if we were old friends after trips to Machu Picchu and Arequipa. Very accommodating re. early arrival and departure. Negotiated with taxi drivers to make sure we didn´t get ripped off. Looked after our luggage while we were away. Spotlessly clean. Hot, powerful showers. Fast internet. Simple but adequate breakfast included in price (coffee/teas, bread, juice, eggs). Road at front is noisy from early in morning so choose a room not facing the street if you´re a light sleeper. Supermarket is less than 5 minutes´ walk away. Plaza de Armas is about 10-15 minutes´ walk, which is not far really, and you have a range of bustling streets to choose from to get there. An excellent place to relax.

Room Tip: I´d recommend 2nd floor away from the road, or 1st floor away from the road and on the right as you...

I just returned from a trip to Peru and stayed for 2 nights at Tayta Wasi. The staff spoke decent English and were always available, friendly and helpful. I manage to change the rooms with no problems, leave my luggage during my 4 day Machu Pichhu trek , arrange for a city tour and a taxi to the airport with their help. The rooms are modestly decorated but clean and also the breakfast was good as well. It's located within walking distance from the main square ( 20 min stroll), but if that's too much, taxis are cheap there :) .
Hot water available as well as good, warm wool blankets. The only marginal nuisance was some noise (i'm a light sleeper).
Overall a great place to stay.

Room Tip: ask for a room towards the inner garden , the opposite side form the road
