Great hotel nestled into a cozy area of Cusco. Its a bit of a trek up the hill past the Plaza de Arms but well worth it. The staff was friendly, there was plenty of coca tea ready to help battle the altitude, the rooms were clean and we were surprise with hot water bottles as part of their turn down service - very welcome on a chilly Cusco night!

I had reserved a room at this hotel 4 weeks ahead of arriving however when we arrived they did not have a room for us. They did not deny our reservation, they were just full ( I believe overbooking is common). After some consultation between the front desk and the manager we were asked if a room in the adjoining hotel would be okay ( found out later that a business deal was in the works to combine the two hotels into one). We agreed and were grateful not to be turned away to fend for ourselves in an unfamiliar area.
Well the manager at the adjoining hotel was super accommodating, he personally made us a late night tea and snack. In the morning a good continental breakfast was waiting for us, good meaning not just toast and jam, the staff made us eggs along with fresh homemade bread, buns etc.
All in all, this could have been a terrible experience but the staff and managers turned it around into a pleasant stay.

Pretty hotel, nice staff. Paper thin walls - a music school is right next door it was loud plus I could hear the people in the next room open a bag of chips or flush toilets. The breakfast buffet was small and the poor waiter couldn't keep up with the amount of people that wanted to eat. The room only had space for 12 people but the buffet was generally empty because food ran out. We tried to eat elsewhere. The wifi didn't work except in the lobby. We couldn't get it to work in the rooms.

We stayed at the Casa San Blas for two nights before and after Machu Picchu. We had a queen suite and loved our room. It was a split level with a queen bed on the top and a lving area with a small kitchen, sofa bed, dining, and bathroom at the lower level. Outside was a balcony (did not use it much) with private seating and a very nice view. The view from the room at the top level was also excellent overlooking the plaza. The room definitely had a very nice ambience and charm. I cannot speak to the standard rooms. The breakfast was good on the first stay but on the second stay we found they were overwhelmed (the space is small) and only a couple of people work there and they could not keep up. There are some water pressure issues but nothing that would worry me. I liked the turndown service and the hot water bottles which made it personal. The location is fairly conv. to the plaza but it is on a narrow street with difficult access by a vehicle. The plus side is that it is very quiet. I would defintely stay there

Room Tip: choose the suite - it is definitely worth it especially the ambinece

I don't get the hype about this place. We were supposed to stay here before and after our MP trek. I booked directly on their website and called to confirm the room the day before. The front desk confirmed but when we checked in that afternoon they said we didn't have a reservation! The hotel apologized and acknowledged their staff had made a mistake. They offered to pay for a taxi to one of their other properties and told us we would get a special rate of $80/night. When we got their the room was filthy (dozens of mosquitos in the bathroom and a hole the size of a grapefruit in the ceiling) and we found out $80/night was their regular rate! When we returned to Casa San Blas after our trek, they told us they couldn't upgrade us nor could they refund us a night for the mistake. Instead, we got a small room with a window that opened to the waiting room so we had to sleep with the window close and no AC. The bathroom was dirty and they kept forgetting to stock the towels.

The location is privileged - the views from the apartments are beautiful.
The place is comfortable (nice, big fluffly bed), practical, very good bathroom and amenities..
A good buffett breakfast is included too.
They even allowed us to check in a couple of hours ahead of time.
We were extremely pleased with the whole experience and would surely go back!

~Pros~
- Location within 5-10 minutes walk of the Plaza - perfect
- Very clean
- Hospitable staff
- Hot water bottles provided at night help a lot to keep your bed warm all night
- Area heaters provided
- Delicious breakfast with fresh fruit and fresh fruit juice
- Beautiful rooms

~Cons~
- Water temperature in the shower varied slightly in the shower - not a real issue
- TV and outlets did not work in our room and we needed to have that fixed the day we arrived
- No central heating, but the heaters provided worked well
- Laundry service was expensive (I believe $6 USD per kg)

The hospitality was great and the breakfast was delicious. I would return here, as we had an excellent experience, but I would also consider a place with central heating such as Casa Andina (one of their locations is in the Plaza) or Los Andes de America (Best Western, also close to the Plaza).
