After a very exciting taxi ride through the impossibly narrow roads that lead to Casa San Blas, we arrived to a warm welcome from the very friendly and accommodating staff. We were delighted with the lovely boutique hotel and then with our rooms (all three that our family occupied) - each having its own special character. We wished we'd had more time to spend there as the city of Cusco was very unique and thoroughly accessible from the hotel - an easy and fascinating walk to nearby shops and restaurants. We highly recommend the hotel and a stay of more than two days, especially with working in your trip to Machu Picchu.

This was part of our travel package. People here were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast each morning had good variety. We were close to the main square.
All standard rooms have only double beds. Shopping in immediate are was more economical. Free 24/7 internet access in lobby. They offer massages for economical price.

A nice, boutique hotel. Don't expect all mod-cons here as it's not that sort of hotel. Restaurant is pleasant enough, if a little uninspiring. Just check the prices quoted for things like laundry (there a different prices quoted in the hotel info pack compared to those on the laundry sheet). The staff were all friendly and helpful. We would go back. Our room was good, though we did overhear other guests complaining about theirs...

Casa San Blas is a small hotel three long blocks away from the main plaza in town. We stayed here three nights before going on to Machu Picchu. The hotel is going to be redecorated shortly. The rooms on the first floor are small but clean. It does not have street noise but noisy with people traffic, a school close by, and firecrackers going off in the morning. I appreciated having access to the internet with two computers in the small lobby. Hot tea is always available. The staff is bilingual and helpful.

The restaurant serves a reasonable breakfast in the morning which is included in the room rate. We had dinner at the restaurant one night. It seems that they might have one chef and one waitress. It took about 1 1/2 hrs before our meal arrived. It was delicious but maybe because we waited so long.

The hotel is connected to a travel agency, Planet Earth Explorations. I worked with Claudia R. via email regarding our stay in Cusco and our tour of the Sacred Valley, the ruins, etc. I had questions regarding the train and bus to Machu Picchu. I sent emails to the bus, train, and hotel at Machu Picchu with no response. Claudia made phone calls and got answers for me. I received phone calls from Claudia following up on her emails. Claudia did a superb job of taking care of us in Cusco.

Cusco and the Sacred Valley are places not to be missed. Staying at Casa San Blas was a great beginning to our two week vacation in Peru.

We stayed here for two nights at the end our Peru adventure. The location is outstanding, providing wonderful views of Cusco. It is a short walk to the Plaza de Armas, but beware of the uphill climb on your return to the hotel. The area of San Blas is incredibly charming and lively, with plenty of shops, restaurants, and artisans. The Casa San Blas serves complimentary coca tea, coffee, and tea at all hours in the lobby where there are computers for the guests' use. The standard rooms are spotlessly clean, the showers have plenty of hot water and great pressure, and you will be assured a good nights' sleep with the hot water bottle placed beneath your sheets at night. Though the bedspreads are a bit dated looking, everything in the room is comfortable and immaculate. There are professional Spa services that can be arranged at the front desk with a few hours notice for a very reasonable price. The staff are all friendly and helpful, providing taxis, oxygen, restaurant advice, and more. We felt safe, secure, and well cared for. The breakfasts were tasty and plentiful, and they were happy to accommodate specific food requests. There is a very personal feel to Casa San Blas. It is not the most deluxe or fancy hotel, but the staff and service are top notch, and the cleanliness and comfort of the hotel make it a great place from which to enjoy the sites of Cusco. The history of the building is described in your room and it is a charming story. Exposed Inca walls in the sunny courtyard help create an ambiance of the old world. There are so many hotel options that we saw in Cusco, but Casa San Blas is a sure bet for location with views, clean, secure, and friendly lodging, and homelike comfort at a fair price. I plan to return with other friends and family in 2010. I plan to book a suite this time because they have a shared terrace with lovely views and more luxurious accommodations.

We recently stayed at the Casa San Blas during our honeymoon. We were at the hotel for 3 nights in total, two prior to a visit to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu and one on returning. We were impressed with the hotel room we were allocated for our three nights. Situated at the top of the hotel we had a magnificent view across Cusco to the mountains beyond. I can see why rooms lower down in the hotel may suffer from a restricted view but we couldn't complain on that count. The room was reasonably sized, spotlessly clean and well served with minibar / fridge, flat screen tv with good choice of cable / satellite channels and a separate dining table and chairs on a raised area by the window. There were some nice little touches like hot water bottles placed in the bed as part of the turndown service which we appreciated (it can get quite nippy at night).

The hotel was situated a comfortable 10 min walk from the main square and was close by to a number of local pubs and restaurants. Arriving at the hotel by minibus was a bit frantic as there isn't anywhere large enough for a minibus to stop other than the road outside the hotel so unloading the suitcases is a necessarily speedy affair.

There is coca leaf tea and coffee available in the reception as well as free internet access. Purportedly there is WiFi access in the rooms but I was unable to connect from our room due to a very weak signal.

We would have liked to have tried the (very small) thai restaurant in the hotel but it didn't appear to be open for dinner on any of the evening we were there. The breakfast buffet is simple and the choice isn't massive but what was there was fine.

The staff were friendly, effecient and welcoming and there were no issues in us leaving the majority of our belongings with them for safekeeping whilst we took our trip.

All in all a great place to stay although this may depend on which room you book.
