Stayed here for a couple of nights early January. Great place. Quiet. Quaint. Large, friendly guest-house feel. Large bedrooms. Exquisite, relaxing sitting room. Free wireless. Owners are very helpful - each room has a guest mobile phone that acts as a "guest hotline" when out and about - especially useful if you have no Spanish!! Property is a 15 minute taxi ride from town centre,

Room Tip: We had a nice adjoining family suite - tow rooms with common bathroom. Worked great.

After a gruelling Inca trek where we were unable to have hot showers in Agua Calientes due to severe thunderstorms and a power blackout, we were so happy to arrive at the Garden House. Greeted by our wonderful, warm hosts, Ceci and Denise we were guided to our exquisite room - heated, fine linen, gorgeous hot shower and even warm slippers. They even got us a bottle of Malbec from down the road on request. It really is like staying in their house and they make you feel very welcome to explore the lounge room and fine art work and jewellery within. The breakfast was magnificent and they gave excellent advice on visiting the best Colombian artefact Museum in town - well worth the visit. Thank you Cecil and Denise!

We stayed there only one night, but it was an eventful stay. The property is absolutely beautiful with plants and flowers in bloom everywhere. Our room was very spacious, we had two rooms and a large bathroom, tastefully and comfortably designed. Breakfast was delicious. But the main value of this hotel are the hosts, Doris and Ceci. They provide a service that is beyond what you would expect from a hotel. We received a cell phone with programmed number of the hotel to call them any time during our stay in Cusco for taxi or any questions. Their help and advice made our stay pleasant and easy. Big thank you to this hotel!

Although this hotel is close to the center of Cusco and you will have to take transportation to do anything nearby, the hotel was beautiful and clean. The staff were friendly and made us feel at home. Breakfast in the morning was set up just for our small group at a family style table which was a cozy way to have breakfast with our friends. The rooms were clean and large. A pizza restaurant was recommended by the staff that was walking distance for the night we were there and it was excellent as well. Great hotel!

My wife, 19 month old daughter and I stayed at the Garden House for a few days on our trip to see Cusco and Machu Picchu. The Garden house had a room that actually had two rooms so we could put our daughter to sleep and then continue to talk, plan, etc. The owner was absolutely wonderful and spent lots of time playing with our daughter and even brought out extra toys for her to play with. The breakfast was hearty, healthy and tasty. It is a little bit out of the main drag which we liked because it was quite and serene. All of the hotels we found in town had lots of traffic noise and we thought it was worth the taxi ride back and forth to stay in a quiet place and get a good nights sleep. The taxi ride to the main square was less than $5 us.

I would highly recommend the Garden House for anyone wanting to be just outside the main hustle and bustle or anyone traveling with young children.

All I can do is reinforce what many have said before. This is a very welcoming and friendly hotel, and one which we would heartily recommend. Although true that it is located away from the city centre, this is not a problem. It took no more than fifteen minutes to get to the centre, and the taxi fare was reasonable. Staying on or near the main square, you may be close to all the tourist sites, but surely travelling is all about experiencing and observing what a country is really like? And by staying in this part of Cusco, you get to see what life is like for many Peruvians. Driving to and from the centre was very interesting, and allowed us to see glimpses of Peru beyond the ruins of the Sacred Valley.

The hotel itself is comfortable. We were offered tea upon our arrival, and were looked after very well. Plenty of advice about how to minimise the affects of altitude sickness, and when I contracted a cold I had a cocktail of hot lemon and honey made for me. Our first night saw us arriving on the last flight into Cusco. Having been travelling all day from Argentina, we weren't keen to head out for dinner. A selection of quality take away menus were produced and in no time the dining room in our suite was set up for dinner and the food was delivered.

Nothing was too much trouble. The mobile phone was very handy when wanting taxis booking to return back to the hotel, and the laundry service was quick and reasonably priced. Bottled water was provided daily and the breakfast was good (bread, eggs, cereal, fresh fruits and the like). Restaurant bookings were made, and taxi drivers were spoken to (both to ensure that they knew where to take us and to highlight that the 'correct price' was known by us). Our suitcases were looked after whilst we spent two nights in Machu Picchu, and we greatly appreciated the calls that were made to the airline on our behalf to sort out a booking mistake.

The owners - Doris and Ceci - were elegant and charming. We have seldom been made to feel so welcome, and they made our stay truly memorable. Their staff, too, were professional, courteous and pleasant. If we ever return to Peru - and we do hope to - we would look to stay here again. Out of five hotels in three countries over three weeks, this was our favourite. It may not be swanky, but there was a warmth which just helped us to relax and enjoy ourselves. Highly recommended.

We recently spent 4 nights at the Garden House and we had an absolutely wonderful time.

Ceci and Doris and their staff made sure that we were never short of anything, whether it was a car to the city centre, a table at a nice restaurant, a mobile phone (!!) so we could call them whenever we needed a taxi to pick us up again or hot and cold water in the room.

They worked tirelessly to make sure we enjoyed our stay to the fullest and that we managed to see as much of Cuzco and the surroundings as possible in a relatively short amount of time.

The Garden House offers an intensive program where you get a half day tour of Cuzco and the surrounding inca ruins, make a full day tour of the Sacred Valley and - of course - a full day tour to Machu Picchu. In addition you are likely to have a couple of half days to explore Cuzco on your own - we certainly did.

For us this was an absolutely brilliant way to visit Cuzco and see a lot of the main sights in a short amount of time. We loved staying at the Garden House, with its nice rooms, lovely living areas and courtyard, beautiful garden and incredibly friendly hosts.

If there is one single thing we would do differently it would be to try to have more time at Machu Picchu. The Vistadome train is a must and a hugely enjoyable experience, and the ruins themselves are positively magical, but we were not on site until 11am and we had to start the journey back at 2pm. Add to that a 1 year old who needs sleep and food at relatively regular intervals and you set yourself up for trouble. But that - of course - is not the fault of the Garden House!

Next time in Cuzco I am sure we will stay there again, however, we might consider squeezing in a night in Aguas Calientes to make sure we have a bit more time at Machu Picchu.

Thank you Doris and Ceci - for making our stay in Cuzco and Peru even more memorable!
