“Great place to stay in Cusco”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

Great place to stay in Cusco. Very convenient location in the San Blas area, a short walk from Plaza de Armas. Feels like an upscale hostel or small boutique hotel de charme. Very pleasant, cozy, comfortable. Breakfast is included and quite decent. The staff are very helpful. No hesitation in recommending.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The price is good and the staff is very helpful and friendly, even though most do not speak much English. The courtyard is very lovely and the property is well maintained. I also really liked the location in San Blas. However, the laundry service was a bit of a rip-off. Also, my mom and I are pretty certain that we got bitten up by bed bugs on our first night. This was quite unfortunate, since this is such a nice place.

Stayed here May 2014 before and after our Machu Picchu trek. Liset, Ana, and Maria were so friendly and helpful the entire duration of our visit. The breakfast was very filling with eggs made to order, rolls and croissants, and fruit salad. Great coffee as well! They also offered airport transportation and laundry service which we used.

Pros: Central location near San Blas Plaza, friendly service, excellent breakfast, comfortable and warm beds, hot showers.

Cons: If your room faces the street, you can hear noise from nearby events.

Room Tip: Away from the street.

My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and comfortable. It was chilly but room had portable radiator that warmed it up quickly and bed had plenty of blankets. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The location was perfect. Breakfast was great. We could not have enjoyed our stay in Cusco more.

Although the hotel is on a street without motor traffic, it's quite noisy. Pedestrian traffic, dogs barking, cats mewing, the movements of people in the other rooms, the sounds from the kitchen and breakfast room (which doubles as a bar at night), and people often knocking or ringing the bell to be let in, all contributed to our aggravation. The tiny soap bars they provided, while ok for the sink, were a pain for the shower- I'd like to suggest they mount a bottle of body wash in there. Complaints aside, the rooms and courtyard were lovely. The staff was kind, accommodating, and available 24/7. Breakfast was always fresh and ample, with fruit, eggs to order, and really good bread. They have a complimentary one way service from the airport if you stay a couple of nights. The location is good- close to most of the attractions and many good restaurants.

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper, this may not be the place to stay.

My partner and I stayed here for two nights after completing the Lares trek last week.
The hotel itself is lovely, really friendly staff, delicious breakfast including fresh fruit.
We were in room 8 which is a loft style room, which is lovely and light, but can cause issues when you're tall! My partner is 6ft3 and hit his head on the rafters in the bedroom repeatedly.

We really enjoyed our stay with the exception of the shower. The water was lovely and warm, however the shower head was terrible. The water jetted out from the shower head with such force that it was painful. It's only one aspect, but when you're at 3300m (I.e. Cold mornings) it makes a big difference, particularly when the hotel is not cheap!

We stayed here in March for 4 nights. We got room 8 and although the spaces are a little tight, the room was clean, comfortable and most importantly we had hot water (you do have to give it time to heat up, but it does!) The bed had lots of blankets so no problem with being cold - it's actually not too bad weather wise in March, but they do provide a heater for the room if you are cold. The hotel itself is a lovely building, with a very pleasant courtyard. The staff are very friendly and helpful - always available too. Another bonus is the free coca tea that is always on offer in the dining room. I think the only downside we experienced was coming down for breakfast and finding the buffet raided by our fellow travellers (they had the whole bread basket on their table!) However, this didn't matter to us very much as breakfast comes cheap in Cusco :) One thing to note - we were picked up at the airport by Jaime who works in conjunction with the hotel. He offers tours of the Sacred Valley in his car - at the moment i think he only does the tour in Spanish, but if you can, then i'd definitely recommend him. He's extremely polite, his driving is safe and he has a wealth of knowledge about all the sites. We travelled from Cusco around several sites, ending in Ollantaytambo where we stayed before heading to Machu Picchu - however, he would take you back to Cusco if you were staying there.
