Ask for a room in the main building if possible. Staff goes out of their way to assist with any needs. I stayed there twice - both rooms were quiet. Restaurant provides 'safe' food, yet use bottled water (or sanitized) in Peru. Breakfast included. I ate steak and cebiche (ceviche) and was totally satisfied with preparation.

Room Tip: I had to ask for a heater - but it arrived promptly.

We were on a group tour of Peru and stayed here 2 nights then left for Machu Picchu and then came back for one night. The two different stays were completel different one experience was wonderful and one was absolutely awful....

The good-
Our first two nights were wonderful. We had a corner room and we were delayed in getting to the hotel due to a strike and the bridge out of Puno to Cusco was blocked. Our tour guide called ahead and the restaurant stayed open for us. The food was great, service was great. The hotel is conveniently located walking distance to Qorikancha and the main plaza. It felt safe and our room was clean and quiet (although some of our traveling group members said their rooms were super loud). The rooms were spacious and most importantly up-to-date and it felt cozy. We really enjoyed it. We had a great view and our room was super quiet. The breakfast was better than we'd had before and the staff was genuinely friendly with internet that actually works in the rooms.

The Bad-
When we came back from Machu Picchu we stayed here again. There are a series of rooms literally in the basement (10, 20, 30, 40, 50) that you have to walk through the dining hall to get to. Our room was tight and tiny, with a mildew shower curtain. There was no hot water which was horrible. The blow dryer blew out within 10 seconds of being on. I went to the front desk to ask for a new one and the person working the desk said he had to call his manager to see what to do; at that point I didn't even ask about the water. When we came home that night around midnight the entire dining hall was dark and we had to navigate through; these rooms were like an afterthought and probably are rooms they try to avoid using. At 4am we started hearing the dining room getting ready for breakfast and overall it was incredibly disappointing as they couldn't move our room.

So to sum it up; it's a complete dice roll here. Some rooms are quiet and great while others are noisy and lack hot water. Good luck :)

Room Tip: Stay away from bottom floor and particularly 10, 20, 30, 40, 50. Request back of hotel.

The hotel is close to the walls of the Sun Palace which is fascinating to see because of the Inca workmanship. The hotel staff is very accommodating and friendly although I never did get the outlets fixed in our room that were supposed to be 110V - none of them worked. The hotel had a small inside courtyard which was nice, and if you faced this it was pleasant and quiet. Breakfast was the same buffet everyday and adequate. I think more servers should be hired to help out, because they looked extremely busy trying to keep everyone satisfied. It was quite cold at night, and we had a small heater that needed to remain on much of the day in order to make it acceptable at night. Overall I'd stay here again for sure.

Room Tip: Get a room that faces the inside courtyard to avoid street noise.

Stayed as part of tour group . My room was over the front door and very noisy as cars and people were coming and going at all hours. The light outside of the hotel shone straight into my room. I had to call for a heater as the room was freezing. My room did not have a hair dryer but others did. I placed do not disturb sign on door and the room was still serviced.

We stayed in Cusco a total of 3 nights during our 10 day Machu Picchu trip. The hotel is very loud. One room we stayed right near reception (very loud) and another time we stayed further away from reception but there was a loud concert that sounded like it was in our room (even loud with earplugs)-that lasted to 1-2am. Walls are very thin and we could hear all the rooms around us. Breakfast was poor and understaffed. Second room was dirty (hairs in bed/stained linens) and smelled. The area was safe. The staff were really nice and helpful-stored our luggage for a week without a problem. Easy access to main square-only a 10 min safe walk.

The staff at Taypikala were so friendly and helpful and great company! I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and a buffet breakfast was included each morning. Nice and comfortable and only a few blocks from the Main Square. Good for big groups or individual backpackers, stopping by for a night. Great value for Cusco

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room in the back away from the front street. It is more quiet in the back an...

I spent there a night, the day after I had to live Cusco.
the hall is clean and confortable. the reception staff really helpfull and kind.
I stayed in a matrimonial suite (officially 140$ but discounted at 100$). it was pretty big and clean; maybe in the early moning could be a little bit noisy. the bathroom is really ok and the jacuzzi confortable.
the brekfast was standard-continental and there was a good quantity of food!
...I really enjoyed my night there.
