This hotel is in a good location, it's close to the centre and in a quite neighbourhood. However, the decor is dated and poorly maintained. Our room had pictures which were falling apart, a shower that leaked and power outlets that had clearly burnt out at some point. A constant disappointment was the lack of hot water. We stayed three nights and every night or morning the hot water either ran out or just did not exist. The breakfast is pretty good and the restaurant food was good but food and drink is overpriced!

We went to Cusco hoping to stay in a nice hotel, nothing fancy but a Boutique type. This hotel was recommended by our tour company. Trip Advisor gives it 3 stars but may need to re-evaluate. The hotel is very old and is on one of the busy streets right downtown Cusco, (nice for walking though). The lobby is anything but impressive with all kinds of signs and plaques covering the walls, a counter coffee machine that you pay for, dated furnishings and 3 full size oxygen tanks sitting by the couches. (You ask the security guard to clean it and time you to help with altitude sickness).
The rooms are very small and bathrooms are cramped with mold on the shower tile. The towels were dingy white. Our room looked over a roof into someone's apartment that had laundry hanging on a line. For warmth we used an old wool blanket.
On the good side, they have a good breakfast in the morning!

Watch out for room 219, the bed nearest the window! Doctor confirmed by the characteristic linear, itchy marks. Also, on our first night, reception woke us up at 9:20am to tell us that we were overdo to check out apparently not aware that we had just gotten there at 4 am after a long bus ride from Puno. They eventually found our 2 night reservation, but an apology would have been nice. Overall not the worst we've stayed at, except for the bed bugs.

Room Tip: Facing the courtyard is less noisy. Check the beds for bed bugs.

Dear Donna: We regret and apologize for having bad experience after its long journey. The Taypikala Hotel in Cusco had lovely staff but the hotel needs a bit of an facelift….. it felt very jaded and has a lot of one or two night traffic. I stayed 3 nights in total with a room-mate, the room was very small for 2 people and the ensuite bathroom was minuscule with a leaking toilet so that the bathroom floor was always wet. Additionally, I found the location odd, on a very narrow street where taxi and cars dropping off guests could not pass. The shortest way to town entailed going down long narrow alley ways and it was easy to get turned around unless shown the way.
No good for a single women looking for somewhere to stay.

Room Tip: Do not accept a room on facing the main street, when I was there 3 neighbours were fighting loudly a...

Easy walk to the city and attractions, helpful staff, clean and comfortable. Average breakfast. Beautiful garden, with outdoor furniture, and funky decoration. Great experience, certainly fitted well with the amazing Cuzco visit.

The hotel was very nice, the bed was very comfortable. It was very quiet. We could sleep well even on 31 December. The location was very good - 10 minutes walk to Plaza de Armas. We would stay here again.

The staff of hotel is very vriednly and they always were happy to help us.
We arrived really early and they let us have a breakfast for free and let us check-in earlier as well.
Two minuses I can mention:
1. Shower in room doesn't have door, so all humid in your room
2. Don't eat in their hotel for dinner. One day we were fine, second my husband had a food poisoning.
