“Luxurious and magnificent!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 February 2013

We recently stayed at this most beautiful and luxurious hacienda style hotel. As soon as you knock on the heavy rustic front doors to the hotel, you feel like you are entering a magnificent private home. You are immediately led into a most luxurious and homely lounge area with large couches, beautiful cushions and the most magnificent artworks and Peruvian artefacts. The cocoa tea served in hand painted mugs as we arrived was a most welcoming touch on a cold, rainy day. Our room was a most beautiful surprise - large and comfortable with a fire place and comfortable couches overlooking the pretty internal courtyard and picture perfect views through the wooden shuttered windows of the Plaza Las Nazarenas (a stone's throw from the main square). The bathroom was elegant with a large bath and separate shower and toilet. The best surprise was to find a hot water bottle in my bed after a long day of touring in the rain. All staff were most attentive and helpful. We only ate breakfast at the hotel which was a small buffet selection of pastries and hot food to order - not lavish but adequate. The atmosphere of the hotel was intimate and cozy yet extremely luxurious. After looking at the other 5 star hotels in the vicinity, I would not hesitate to stay at La Casona again!

Room Tip: We loved our room overlooking the very pretty Plaza Las Nazarenas.

This hotel is a beautiful, clean facility with welcoming service. From check in to check out, every staff personnel was very accommodating. The location of the hotel is walking distance from the main square, so it is very convenient and very safe. Their daily tea time is wonderful. They do have free internet which is also very convenient. Overall, very comfortable and highly recommend!

A small private/boutique hotel which has been lovingly restored. The building itself is quite old and has quite a history. All the rooms open onto a central square and are beautifully appointed and spacious, with fabulous bathrooms. Only minutes walk to the main square with a lot of historical buildings and restuarants. Also central to seeing the sites around Cusco.

All the small things such as tea/coffee/water/busicuits/fruit etc are inclusive together with a great breakfast.

We had three nights there and would stay there again should we return to Cusco.

Room Tip: We were in the back of the hotel and it was very peaceful. The front rooms open onto the square and...

Beautifully situated in a lovely square La Casona is the most charming and authentic place to stay in Cusco.
We had a lovely appointed room with a stone fireplace, facing a beautiful courtyard. The communal parts were all decorated with antiques, charming old textiles and peruvian artifacts.
Great service and a very good restaurant made us feel like we wanted to face again the altitude challenges and return very soon.....

Where do I begin!

We are not the kind of people who normally do package deals, but in order to do Machu Picchu for the first time, we arranged a luxury tour including three nights at the Inkaterra La Casona and one night at the Inkaterra Aquas Calientes.

We landed in Cusco from Lima, and felt a little light headed due to the altitude.

A short drive and we arrived at a great stone wall with a huge door.

Behind this door were friendly, kind, warm and gentle staff who welcomed us in like we were family.

The first two nights, we stayed in room 9. Absolutely gorgeous, and perfect in every way. A fridge full of little treats (all complimentary) and plenty of bottled water (con gas y sin gas) were there so we could refresh.

The courtyard is amazing. And they burn incense in the stone circle - creating a sensual and heady aroma that only contributes to the magic of this place.

The staff anticipated out every whim - and when we got home from our dinner on the first night we arrived to a room that was tidied up and all of our shoes were even laid out perfectly, and there were hot water bottles in the bed for us! Little chocolates in little boxes with angels on the lid... I could go on and on.

Internet was included and reliable.

Food at Fallen Angel was AMAZING!

Everything was amazing.

We went to Machu Picchu for two days and one night and when we returned to the Inkaterra in Cusco, we were so happy to see our familiar hosts, everyone got a big hug and kiss on the cheek (as is customary for friends in Cusco).

They also put us in the nicest room (room 6) for the night.

They claim they are eco chic and WOW are they EVER! The bottles of shampoo and conditioner are in glass bottles. When you use them they don't froth up so I know that they are not full of chemicals.

I have some pictures to share with you and you can see how perfect this place is.

Room Tip: They are ALL gorgeous rooms. The absolute best is room 6 - but I am sure it will be very expensive...

What a unique and memorable hotel! Situated in a small, picturesque square (a two minute walk from the main square), the location is ideal. As we stepped through the doors into the hotel, we were instantly impressed with the staff greeting and the hotel's decor and furnishings.

We were led through the central courtyard to our room which had a unique character and charm unmet in any accommodation we have stayed in previously. Being a small boutique hotel, we always felt well looked after and in very capable hands. The restaurant food is amazing and the ambience is lovely.

The hotel is spotless! Well appointed bathrooms, deep luxuriating baths (I soaked and soaked), cosy fireplaces, amazing beds, gorgeous bathrobes (not sure if they were suede or micro fibre, but were so comfortable)... and the list could go on and on.

We stayed for three nights before walking the Inca Trail, and one night following. The staff stored our bags during the five nights we were away. We had total trust in the care they took of our belongings, which we could not take on the trail.

We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cusco. A genuine asset to the Inkaterra hotel group. Thank you for making our stay in Cusco all the more memorable!

Room Tip: On our first visit we were downstairs (room 4) and our second visit we were upstairs (room 8). Both...

Only 11 villas and super quaint. Loved the ambience and flavor and was very personalized. Near downtown historical area and lots of restaurants nearby. Two nights here was perfect. Would definitely stay here again. We stayed at all three Inkaterra hotels here and in Machu Picchu and Amazonica. Would recommend all three highly. Lots of consistency and professionalism. They offer a discount for staying at all three. 3 nights in Amazonica, three nights in Machu Picchu, and two nights here were perfect, as there is a lot of travel time between the three.
