My sister and I visited Sumaqcha on a whim one night in Cusco. The food is EXCELLENT, large servings of both traditional Peruvian food and other choices. Sumaqcha is fairly new family restaurant, and we enjoyed meeting the owner (who hosts/serves), his wife (who cooks), and their children who help out around the restaurant. It is located just off of the main Plaza de Armas and offers a nice, cozy location (with a fireplace!) to eat with friends - definitely give it a try!

This is a relatively new restaurant as the owner and his wife set it up in April 2014. She cooks (very well) and he hosts (wonderfully). The restaurant is clean, charming and has a great atmosphere. The food has a mix of traditional dishes and international but the menu isn't too big so that the food can be sourced locally.
We had the quinua soup and the cow hearts and they were excellent, in particular the marinade for the hearts.
Overall we had a great meal and will certainly be returning.

We stumbled upon Sumaqcha by accident, but what a great find this was! Nestor and his wife make you feel at home instantly at Sumaqcha! From their hospitality, to the cute fireplace in the restaurant, to lessons in Inca language... it was all wonderful.
Awesome Cusceno cuisine, actually the best we had in Cusco! That day we had a very heavy lunch, so we decided to split our appetizer and our main course. Nestor brought out a full plate for each of us and charged us for one anyway. Be sure to try their quinoa soup and also the alpaca! And in my opinion their pisco sour was the best I have had in Peru!

A big thanks to Nestor and his wife for this wonderful experience!
