“Really Good!!!”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

I booked in Pantastico just because the reviews of the breakfast were great. And so it was!
They have a couple of bakeries in town and one of the kitchens is in the hostal so you get very nice fresh bread, fruits, te and coffee, etc
And they have a basket with biscuits on tha table at all times for you to pick on! Small detail but makes you feel like at home :)

Rooms were ok for the price we paid. A friend of mine was staying in a room that had some water leaks but they got change quickly. And I know that they bought 3 new mattresses recently which is good to know so you can ask for one of this rooms with new mattress.
It's a bit noisy but I never knew because I used earplugs....

Staff is very friendly and helpful!
Very recomemded :)

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms with new mattresses !

Thanks for your comment! We finished to renew our mattresses! Definitely, our hostal is more cozy than luxurious. Probably the good vibe among travelers in this place and the great smells from the bakery make for it!
Light sleepers will definitely rest happy with earplugs!

Very good value, great location, the rooms are good for the price (better if you're not in one next to the road but the noise isn't too bad) but the showers are shared with other rooms.

The highlights for me were the excellent biscuits which are almost always available to guests in the reception for free and the friendly service.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that isn't next to the road if possible. The noise isn't usually that bad bu...

We stayed here for around 8 days in total before and after the Inca Trek. The room we had was basic but comfy and the shared showers were hot and generally clean. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of San Blas around a 10 minute walk from Plaza de Armas.

The highlight was the home baked cookies and bread which were fantastic or should I say Pantastic...boom boom. The service was friendly and welcoming. During our first stint we stayed in a triple room facing the main road and it was very noisy early morning so if possible avoid any rooms on that side of the building. After the Inca Trek, we stayed in a different room and the noise level wasn't a problem at all.

All in all excellent value for money.

John

Room Tip: Do not stay in any rooms on the road side as they're very noisy early morning

Great Breakfast, the bread is freshly baked in the morning en there is free teabduring the day. Really hot showers, clean bathrooms ans toilets, very helpful staff. It is really affordable for Cusco standards too. A solid budget bet, really enjoyed staying here.

We started with a couple of nights here, and then we ended up staying over a week, and when we came back from our trip to Machu Picchu we stayed here again. We liked the location in San Blas, a short walk from Plaza de Armas, although the first couple of days it was pretty exhausting with all the uphill walking ;-)

The staff is friendly and helpful and when we arrived we were offered hot coca tea. Not sure how all of them are with english, since we can communicate in spanish. They fixed us a ventilator for the room and we could leave our laundry with them. Sometimes you need to ask for hot water before you take a shower and it took a couple if days to figure out "the technique" for keeping the water warm while showering.
Keeping warm at night however was not a problem at all, since we had both the ventilator and I believe three different blankets available.

Both our visits we stayed on the first floor, room "Verano" and room "Otoño". Yes, you can hear people talking from the reception, but it didn't bother us. The internet connection is always fine in the common areas and worked fine in the rooms most of the times (not too well in room "Verano" sometimes)

Since we didn't expect a 5* hotel we found the place very charming and I would recommend it for example for a backpacker trip.

I thought that this would have been a better experience. I though I would wake up to the smell of fresh baking bread and goodies. Instead I woke to the sounds of banging pans and the smell of fried onions. The hotel was eager to help with my needs, and I was able to take care of some business, and they baked a cake for my mom's birthday (although a bit expensive and not quite what I was hoping for). I wish that this was more like a bed and bakery and less like a bed and prep kitchen. If they can get that right in the future they will have one of the best establishments in the area.

Dear Gettingoutofkansas,

Thank you for your comment, we are always trying to improve our service.
Pains au Chocolate and Fresh bread are baked early in the morning, and are ready for 8am. We also make savory pastries during the day in our kitchen, like the traditional Peruvian Empanadas. We use for that ingredients like onions, or chicken. The baking of those rarely starts before 10am now, and we are sorry the smell of it was an inconvenience to you.

We are taking your remark into consideration, and would like to thank you again for the helpful comment.

La familia de Pan...tastico.

I spent about a month at Pantastico all up, spread over 3 months as I was working in different places near Cusco. I quickly felt at home, the staff are super friendly and helpful. The location is excellent (I love San Blas), the wi-fi is excellent, and as far as included-in-the-price breakfasts go, that was excellent too. Victor in particular was extremely helpful, never tiring of my endless questions!
