I've enjoyed my stay at casa morey greatly. I stayed here before and after my trip into the jungle with blue morpho. The rooms are spacious, clean, and tidy. All the staff are excellent! Friendly and extremely helpful. The receptionist speaks wonderful English which helped greatly. Breakfast was always amazing. A wide variety of food and drink. I would stay here again! They also leant me one of their own jackets for going out in the rain which was awesome.

I had to get over the thinking of the place as an ex-rubber baron residence. Once I did that, I could actually enjoy the place, which is very, very cool. High ceilings, huge rooms, great beds, long curtains, great location, nice staff, delicious breakfast.
Energetically clean as well. I don't know how they did, but they did.
Probably best value in Iquitos unless you want to go low budget.

Staff is nothing but helpful. Piero is very accommodating about letting my bags stay until my flight comes (even if I've already checked out). Rooms are absolutely HUGE and high ceiling. AC cold and showers hot. Definitely a quiet gem (but convenient) in Iquitos with lots of characters!!

An ex-rubber baron's residence near the promenade in Iquitos. Very beautiful building, stylish, in an old fashioned way - lots of old pictures and furniture. HUGE room - our bedroom was 15 metres by 7 metres, with view of Amazon (in the distance, it was the dry season). And a fully tiled bath (Portuguese tiles) with the original plumbing - a first for us. Very light on service/amenities in the hotel - but with the town so close, who needs it. Breakfast was available specially early for us as we were going back to Lima - very adequate.

Casa Morey is a pretty building just a few blocks from the central square and the boulevard. Rooms are spacious, staff is very friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast with fresh fruit, fresh juices and made to order eggs.
Wifi is extremely slow, so better go to Karma Cafe or other Wifi Spot to get connected.
The room we booked with Booking.com was supposed to be a 137 m² twin room with a private balcony with city views and a private bathroom with a bath tub. When we got to the hotel we were told these were all full and got a a much smaller room on the ground floor without a tub, no windows (expect for a small one above the door) and very Spartan furnishing and decoration.
If I had known this beforehand I would have booked somewhere else.

Room Tip: The best rooms are supposedly on the first floor. Downstairs is quiet but boring.

Not sure what other travelers who stayed here have been smoking, but we found this hotel to be a disappointment. This is a dilapidated property that doesn't look like it has been painted or cleaned since it was built by Luis Morey during the 19th century rubber boom. The best thing about this hotel is its central location in Iquitos. Oh, and it's relatively inexpensive. Which it should be. Bathrooms featured lots of mildew, and the walls and common area furniture were dirty. The place needs a massive renovation.

Room Tip: one side of the hotel is on a busy road. you'll like it if you want to listen to moto bikes all...

Built as a private mansion by Luis Morey during the rubber boom, this hotel occupies a central location in Iquitos, facing an ornate balustrade which overlooks an Amazon tributary. The exterior is impressive and the lobby has a vaguely nautical theme with a ship’s wheel, compass stack and two fog horns. The ceilings are high and the impression in one of colonial grandeur. However, there is not enough “stuff” to fill the vast spaces – not enough furniture, pictures, furnishings – and I thought the place felt rather empty.
Our bedroom was similarly huge, unnecessarily so. The “reception room” part of the suite had no windows and just served as an extra room to walk through on the way to the very big bedroom. We kept a couple of bags there, but since we could have fitted the entire contents of our apartment into the main bedroom, this was not strictly needed.
The beds were comfortable, but the cupboards quite cheap. The bathroom was in need of update.
Breakfast was a little disappointing. There were fairly few people staying, so the buffet was small to avoid wastage. So one was constantly aware of finishing the last slice of mango or the last piece of watermelon. There was cereal fruit, juice, bread and a choice of eggs served in rather clunky glass dishes and slightly worn china.
Each room has air-conditioning which was badly needed in the sweaty climate of Iquitos, and there was a free supply of un-chilled drinking water. The hotel also boasts a swimming pool – a little murky and not huge, but a welcome retreat in the heat of the day.
Staff all very helpful at reception and sorted out everything we needed. Would we go back? Gladly. But they could do the place up in a period style and make it somewhere really special.
