“Pink Dolphin Jaguars”
Review of ACOBIA-DWAzoo

About a 40 minute moto drive that should only cost around 15 soles. Seemed to be plenty of motos to return to Iquitos. The entrance fee was 3 soles and they let my guide in free. Small zoo but good restaurant and nice beach area. Animals seem well cared for but in small areas. The jaguars are impressive and plan to spend a few minutes playing fetch with the pink dolphin, very fun. :)

I have a new favourite animal. Manatees are amazing. The centre is a small animal rescue centre that receives orphaned and hurt manatees from the national park. The newly rescued and baby ones are held in quarantine and bottle fed formula milk. Then they are transferred to a secure pool and fed leaves (you can feed them). They like being stroked. They feel really really soft. I absolutely loved this. It costs around 12-15 soles in a motortaxi to get there. Entrance was around 3 soles. Highly recommend this- made me very very happy. They have plans to expand to include other endangered animals.

A really great place to visit, not just manatee's but other rescued animals.

Easy to get to in a moto-taxi especially if there are a few of you going, we spent a couple of hours there and that would definitely be enough time if you wanted to get a taxi to drop you off and pick you up later. We organised it through our hotel.

We found it in the Iquitos times which is a brilliant laugh and has some good recommendations like this.

You don't need long to visit this rescue centre, about an hour is long enough. A motor taxi costs s/10 to get there at 4.5km. It cost s/3 to get in and we were given some information by a man about the centre and manatees. We got to feed the babies banana and pet them - they are very cute and enjoy chewing your fingers! The centre is doing a great job at rescuing manatees and educating the public in the protection of these animals. Well worth a visit, much better than quistococha.
