Disappointed with this hotel - room (and hallway) stuffy and smelled like smoke. Didn't feel very clean. Staff were hit and miss - some very helpful, others not so much. Appreciated the free internet. Decent location in Miraflores - but you can find more convenient locations and better hotels for the price.

I stayed at Hotel Stefanos for 2 nights before going on a GAP Adventure and it was exactly what I expected for a standard hotel in Lima (basic & clean accommodation---value for $$). The room was clean, bathroom was adequate (hot water), friendly front desk, and breakfast was great! The hotel is located in the Miraflores district and I felt perfectly safe exploring the area. Keep in mind that star ratings for hotels are just a general guideline and can vary from country to country.

We were finishing a GAP trip and having read other reviews we were filled with some trepidation. However staff were always helpful. Breakfast was good and served promptly. Rooms were smart clean and well maintained. Hot water was always available. We certainly had no problems with security.

I'm not sure what everyone else on this page is talking about!!! I stayed at Hotel Stefanos before starting my GAP Adventures trip and had an amazing time... the rooms were clean, the staff were friendly. There was hot water the whole time and I always felt safe! At the price and location, I can't give this hotel a higher rating! Loved it!

  • Liked — everything i was looking for in a hotel
  • Disliked — a little bit off the beaten path, but it's a good way to see the city!

We stayed at Hotel Stefano's twice - once at the start of our GAP tour, and then again at the end.

Our room the first time was ok, but had a very dodgy lock on the front door. I reckon just about anyone could have got into our room without trying particularly hard.

Definitely leave your valuables at reception, especially money and credit cards.

The rooms are pretty basic, but do have cable TV, as with just about every hotel in Peru. The second time we stayed there, we had a spa room, which was bigger. However there was mould growing on the walls of the bathroom, which obviously didn't get cleaned very often.

The good things about this hotel are that its in a very handy spot and there are 2 free internet computers. While the breakfast isn't spectacular, they are better than a few other places we stayed.

If you're on a GAP tour, then Hotel Stefanos is bearable for a night or two. At least its an easy walk home after you've been out in Miraflores. But if you've got the choice to stay somewhere else, don't stay here.

  • Liked — Great location, free internet
  • Disliked — Security isn't the best, and the rooms could be cleaner

Stayed at Hotel Stefano's for 1 night during our trip to Peru and the best part of our hotel experience was checking out.

We stayed here at the start of our GAP tour, and had reservations about staying in the first place but wanted to stay with the rest of the group, If I had booked it myself I would not have stayed in this hotel even for 1 night.

The room and bathroom were aweful and had a terrible smell, The hallways were in bad condition and the carpet dirty, paint was falling off the walls.

Breakfast was very basic and the service really slow.

I would not go back or recommend this hotel to anyone.

My father's camera was stolen out of our LOCKED room. The staff's English seems to magically disappear whenever you approach them with a problem, so we asked our Spanish-speaking tour leader to let them know what had happened (not to get any money of them, simply to let them know about an appalling breach of security). Their response? "You shouldn't have left your camera in your room." Yes, thank, you we figured that out when OUR CAMERA WAS FREAKING STOLEN OUT OF OUR LOCKED ROOM!! I was very uncomfortable for the rest of our stay. If someone was able to get into our room while we were out, what was to stop them from waltzing in while I'm showering or changing? NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Also, the rooms are dingy, the housekeeping is lax at best (3 days without a visit? Come on), breakfast was fine but some of the staff had a lot of trouble remembering orders, even when they were given in Spanish AND written down. Three computers for the "free Internet use"... one didn't work at all, one shut down mid e-mail, and the third was usually being used by the child of a staff member, who didn't seem interested in shutting down her cartoons to let paying guests use the computer.

On the whole, a BAD experience. Avoid Stefano's if you can. If you can't? Keep your valuables on you.

  • Liked — The Peruvian bread at breakfast was pretty good, and the view from the breakfast room was nice.
  • Disliked — Getting our camera stolen out of our LOCKED room. Our dingy room in general. Lack of housekeeping services most days.
