“Can do better”
Reviewed 7 September 2013

We only stayed for one night in July 2013 but impressions were: nice looking hotel, nice looking room and good location, BUT staff were unfriendly, housekeeping poor - toilet paper bin full on arrival to our room! rooms very noisy due to busy road and poorly fitting windows. There will be better places to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms facing road are very noisy.

This was a great hotel to start off our tour of Peru. The rooms are simple but spacious with lovely big beds, the breakfast area and library are beautifully decorated as well as the other communal areas and we had a lovely patio where we could sit outside. It was a bit noisy being on a corner with constant traffic and no window to shut the sound out - somehow this added to the charm of the place. I would advise earplugs if you're a light sleeper! The (english speaking) staff were friendly and helpful, breakfasts were good although we often had to wait a while for them to refill the fruitbowls or bring bread to the table. The hotel is well-situated in Miraflores and its an easy walk to Kennedy Park or around the neighbourhood with its quirky little shops.

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper ask for a room where the windows can close or not facing the street

I really liked this hotel ,it is almost in the centre of Miraflores , which is a lovely neighbourhood of Lima. Its a quirky place with rooms on all different levels, nice breakfast room and a small garden area at the front. The rooms are nothing special but perfectly adequate. It is an easy walk to the ocean cliffs and very close to Park Kennedy , which has lots of shops and restaurants and is very lively at night.

Friendly "English speaking" staff, great location in Miraflores, good sized room, clean with an adequate shower plus shampoo and soap accessories, lovely garden area. Conveniently situated for exploring Miraflores, and for transport links into Lima.

Room Tip: Good safe location

We stayed in the hostal twice, it is a very nice villa with a small but beautiful garden outside and a wonderful patio. The owner/manager is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean, the bathroom was very adequate, hot water as much as you need. Breakfast was gorgeous and fresh fruit was available. The location of the hostal was very adequate, near to the town center, the Tanta restaurant and the seashore.
This hostal can be strongly recommended. The only minor problem is that not all rooms are quiet as the hostal is located on a crossing of two streets in the center of Miraflores.
One good point is that an additional gentleman living in the patio is giving extra charm to the hostal. I mean the lorro Lorenzo. He is an extremely friendly animal who enjoys particularly the ladies. He got extremely friendly with Eva and recognized her after another three weeks travel in Peru. Wonderful. Eva is missing him now at home in Belgium very much.
Wifi is available without any problem and the owner/manager allowed us to use the PC to make
confirmation of our flights.

In short: a place to be recommeded without any hesitation

Room Tip: Rooms with window and door towards the patio

I stayed in this Hostal for a week. It is located in a good area. The staff is no so good. They confirmed my reservation in writing and almost at the end of my stay, the manager/owner tried pulling a dirty trick by saying that I did not have reservation for my last two days and that I had to vacate my room. He was adamant despite me telling him that I had made my reservations almost three months ahead of time. I was able to pull the string of emails from the computer between the hotel and myself and showed it to the manager. He calmed down and erased some staff in his reservation book. Apparently, he had received a request from a large group and he was trying to make room in the hotel by kicking me out. He did not apologize and continue to lie.

There were a lot of other issues such as the place not being secure, during my fist first day a man walked in from the street and stole one of the staff's cell phones.

On a rainy day I had to eat breakfast on a wet table. The manager (same man as before) did not make any arrangements to move me indoors.

For two nights in a row rain water got inside my room. Another guest's room got flooded
and her suitcases got soaked. Management did not do anything about it!!

I can put up with the minor stuff, but not with the fact that this Manager had an attitude and was entitled with his guests. I would not recommend this place. Go next door, a little more expensive but much more professional.

Room Tip: Go next door!

Having specified that we needed a room to accomodate three people at the time of booking (two adults, one minor) we were nevertheless forced into a double room, suitable only for two adults. To make matters worse, the room, including the bedding, was infested with tiny mites. Management were helpful enough, but one of the cleaning staff was surly at having to change our linen and quite insulting until she was informed that we understood spanish. Not a good experience.
