“Nice building but thats it.”
Reviewed 13 November 2012

The place was nice, but thats all it has.

They are not very cheap, and for example not towels were included. 2 or 3 soles each. Most hostels and cheaper ones include one a day or every two or three days the least.
The room strongly smelled to fresh paint, which was very unpleasant. We asked for a fan to vent it (because the one in the room didnt work) and they said they were going to get one. We're still waiting for that fan.
The room was very dimly lit. You could hardly see anything. The beds weren't confortable either.
The building was VERY noisy. In fact, in the top floor its like a big patio where everyone who comes in, even if they dont speak loud, you'll definitely hear all what they have to say. The rooms are all around that patio.

Finally, the attention was horrible. Kinda rude actually. At one time, many minutes later after the girl in the reception desk took us to the room, suddenly she decided to enter with her own key (without knocking or asking for permission) with us inside the room to "check that the room was in order" (???). No apologies whatsoever.

Dont recommend this hostel at all, unless you sleep at times were everyone else is out.

I don't know how this only gets three of five. Fantastic bar and lounge. Clean rooms with private bath. Great Internet availability. Very safe and in a good part of Mira Flores. $10/night.

Every day and night they have different activities, like trivia one night, ping pong, beer pong, pool tournaments. Also have group surfs and other activities.

Good common area too. I'm excited to go to Loki's other locations.

I booked a matrimonial room. The price was 90soles in total. The room is quite nice, hot shower, good clean bed, even a water boiler in the room to make some tea. The hotel has good services like lockers, free wifi and computers, a pool table, darts, and they also organize many events. There is also a breakfast, but lets be serious, bread and butter is not enough to fill many of us. Otherwise, regular items like omellets are I think overpriced. All of the extras like pool table are nice, but to be honest, its not worth paying 90 soles for. You can find true backpacker locations for matrimonial rooms at 40-50 soles in the miraflores area. I think the same thing goes for dorms. Loki if i remember correctly quoted me 35 or 39 for dorm. But there are so many options at under 30 in other locations. My suggestion, if you are traveling long term, save the 20-30 soles, spend it on proper cheap local food, meet local people to practice your spanish and your chicha drinking. They say Loki is a party place but meeting people is never really so hard anyways, so you dont need a big hostel like Loki to force you to meet other travelers.

I'm not a huge party animal, and parties are the main reason a lot of people stay at Loki, which means you can't always count on a decent nights sleep. However, the dorms are clean enough and the staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. The food is decent and the hostel organises activities such as football to keep you entertained, as well as offering an in house travel agent to help you organise your adventures around Peru.

We only stayed one night at Loki Lima but we were really pleased with the service we recieved. Our room was nice, the bathroom was spacious and the beds were confortable and clean. Unfortunately we didn't have a chance to experience breakfast but it looked good. We were most impressed with the staff. The receptioniest was lovely and helped my friend who was feeling unwell with her medication and helped us with all our enquiries. The lady in the kitchen was also very sweet. It was loud in the evening but that's what you expect when you check into a hostel with a bar and happy hour. Good location in a lovely part of town.

One of the worst hostels we have stayed in during our 8 month trip in South America. It wasn't particularly clean, there was no communal area, except the bar and the TV room was like a closet. There is no rule against bringing in your own alcohol, so we did and brought it up to the 'room terrace', at 8 in the evening we were told that we were making too much noise (there were 5 of us and no music) and that we had to come downstairs, we went to our room to get changed to head out, which we had to ourselves, the night man then came and took away the bottle of rum we had.... he was really rude. The music in the bar will stay on until 3 in the morning, however god forbid you make some noise by talking on the roof before 9!Really bad experience.

Room Tip: Ask for one away from the bar, preferably at a different hostel.

PROS:
-Free internet
-Room was cleaned and beds were made everyday.
-Safe neighborhood
-Really tasty ceviche restaurant next door and grocery store just around the corner
-This is a party hostel but the noise didn't keep us up at night.

CONS:
-Worst beds we slept in during a month of hostels.
-We found a weird small bug crawling on a bed, squashed it and it squirted blood everywhere. We found another of the same bug in one of our books after we left the hostel. We all assumed these were bedbugs but it was all of our first experiences with them.
-The laundromat next door is super affordable but they take 16 hours to do a load!? We offered to pay extra to have our clothes done in 12 so we could have clean clothes for our flight but they refused.. super bummer.
