Travelled here with my husband and was expecting something quite basic for the price. What we found was excellent (English-speaking) service, small but comfortable rooms and a great, quiet location. Their upfront service was very good - they arranged an airport transfer and recommended and arranged a day tour of Lima for us via email. The room was small but comfortably appointed, with TV and small kitchenette. The little restaurant only offers a small breakfast (perfectly sufficient), but go for a dinner while you're there for a great introduction to Peruvian cuisine. It is slightly off the main tourist area of Miraflores, but managed to walk to LarcoMar (the touristy shopping centre) for lunch, so definitely not "off the beaten track" at all! Lovely hotel.

Dear guest,

Thank you so much for your kind words. We pride ourselves on being a 'great value' as other guests have mentioned before, because it really is our goal to offer affordable accomodations for all guests coming to Lima. We are truly happy that we reached that goal with you.

Thank you for sharing your experience about our restaurant, we are happy that you enjoyed it as well! We started the restaurant exactly for the reason you mention: to offer home made meals, prepared fresh to order, for tourists who want an introduction to our delicious peruvian cuisine. Thank you again for choosing us, we know you have many lodging options when you travel to Lima, and we are truly honored that you chose our small family-run hotel.

All the best,
Marcos Lostaunau

I needed a place to stay for really half a night because I had a middle of the night flight. My one regret is that I could not stay here longer! These places are really apartments. My "room" had a living area with flat screen, dining area, full kitchen, two bedrooms (master had a flat screen tv also) and two baths! It was beautifully decorated and clean and the price was reasonable. It's within walking distance to the Huaca Huallamarca ruins and s grocery store that is Lima's version of Whole Foods. This would be a great place for a family or small group. There was a beautiful courtyard with pool, great wifi and a really good restaurant on site and the people were very nice.
Recommend!

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed lovely.

I was fairly disappointed after my stay at the Peru Star Hotel after reading the amazing review.
I booked long time in advance and I have tried to e-mail the reception several times to reserve a taxi from/to the airport on arrival, but I have never received a reply.
The furniture and the deco was a bit dated. The rooms were fairly clean, but the rest of the hotel was a bit run down.
breakfast time was another low point for us; you could only have juice (no choice), coffee, jam on bread and eggs (only two choices available).
Overall it was not a bad experience, staff was helpful and we had an ok stay, but after reading the reviews I was axpecting a lot more.

Dear guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are sorry that you never received a response to your airport-pick up request. We have noted and discussed it will all our staff, so we make sure it doesn't happen to future guests. Lucy, the hotel Owner (my wife) takes special pride in decorating room by room, each in a different way, so each has its own character. We are sorry to hear that this was not to your liking. Stayed here for 2 nights before going to Cusco. Chose this place due to the comments in Tripadvisor but i have to say i was a bit dissapointed.
The pictures of this place look a lot better than the actual hotel. Looking at their website and the photos in tripadvisor i was expecting something else.
I dont think this should be considered a hotel but more like a bed and breakfast. The place is clean and service was adequate and breakfast was breakfast. Wifi was good enough to check emails.
Our room was on the top floor and was a bit on the old side. Bathroom was not that appealing and the drain in the bathroom floor had a little bit of odor coming from it.
Stairs to go up to our room were also a bit on the dangerous side. Hotel staff were nice enough to take our suitcases up and back down when we were leaving.
Biggest complaint for me was the noise. I had a very difficult time sleeping both nights with all kinds of noise entering the room.
Also hotel is located in San Isidro which is a residential area so there is not much to do close by and yo will have to take a cab to go anywhere.
I paid $70 per night per room including breakfast and internet plus $35 each way for airport transfer for 4 people and i am thinking that i am being unfair expecting anything more than what i got.
All and all i think this place is ok for the money but make sure you take ear plugs and don't have high expectations.

Dear guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. One of our goals is and always has been and will be to offer affordable accommodations for guests visiting Lima. This has made us receive the "great value" award appointed repeatedly by guests who have stayed with us. We apologize for the inconvenience you had with your bathroom. We urge future guests to always let us know when there is something wrong with your unit or that you would like differently, so we can solve it for you. Another of our goals is to make guest feel as comfortable and as happy as they can be, as if they were in their own home with a peruvian family taking care of them. So we always want our guests to inform us of anything they need during their stay so we can attend to it while they are still with us.

Trip Advisor offers all visitors the possibility to see pictures taken by other guests, so we hope future visitors can benefit from today's technology to have a very accurate image of lodging options available to them. We hope you had safe travels and that you will visit Peru again.

All the best,
Marcos Lostaunau

Perfect, we arrived Lima and there was our driver waiting for us as we exited customs. He whisked us right to the Peru Star Apartments for a two night stay. Location, location, location. The Peru Star is in a very quieit neighborhood which is wonderful. A short taxi ride away you are in Miraflores.

Our room was super, the staff amazing. Could not have asked for better and they have airport service ($20..00) for pickup and drop off.

We were to have used this hotel for a day room on our last day in Peru but our flight from Iquitos (10:20 AM) was "combined" with a 3:50 PM flight so we had to board our flight home after losing the afternoon in Lima. I was able to contact Peru Star via email at the airport and they were WONDERFUL about our situation and thanked us for the notification. They canceled the room and the driver as I let them know as early as I could. My 3G was in and out at the airport in Iquitos.

Great place to stay. Highly recommend:-)
