“Tinkus, a small hostel or B&B in Miraflores Lima. Recommended for sleep”
Reviewed 6 August 2013

Tinkus, a small hostel or B&B in Miraflores Lima,
we stayed July 27 to july 30, we recommend it if you are just going for sleep! and this is what we think:
Room: 5 medium size and its divided in small living space area and then washroom and the room
Cleanliness: 4.5 the bed and washroom were very clean. The floor in the living room space was not very clean
Service: 5.0 the staff was very nice and helpful with the taxis and recommendation of places
Location: 4.5 its in a very nice place, close to everything in miraflores ( the nicest area in Lima) is the only place where you can actually walk and feel safe
Breakfast: 5 the included breakfast was one of the best with ladies hurrying up to serve you a nice and warm eggs and toasts
Noise: 1 the only bad thing is the noise from the exterior, you can hear the noise buses and cars since 5am and until 12 0r 1 am.. and one day we were there at 11am to 2pm and next to the hotel there is a carpentry shop.. so you can imagine the noise at noon hours… so don’t stay there if you will be in your room most of the time… if its juts for sleep, its ok just wear earplugs
Total: 4.23

I create my own score for the hostels I stayed in while backpacking in Peru. Remember this is a hostel, I had to remember myself that always to not get picky

Room Tip: the only bad thing is the noise from the exterior, you can hear the noise buses and cars since 5am a...

This is a pleasant small hotel in the heart of Miraflores. Within not-too-far walking distance to the Parque Kennedy, the Indian Market, Huaca Pucllana, and west to the ocean cliffs at the Larcomar mall. Very close to several major streets with many restaurants and other attractions. I stayed here twice (going and returning from the Amazon) and had two quite different rooms. The first time was a rather standard room with no real character, just comfortable and clean. In the U.S., I would consider it a decent but basic motel room, but here in Lima it’s actually a fairly nice accommodation for the price. On my return, I got a nicer suite overlooking the street that had a small sitting room, a more modern styled shower, and nicer décor.

I only had one breakfast meal here, which was fine. Staff was friendly. The evening desk person spoke good English. The morning man much less so, but he sure tried hard and was very helpful to me.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone needing decent, clean, if not especially fancy accommodations in Lima for one or several nights. As it turned out, my friend in the Amazon who runs tours through Peru stays at Tinkus regularly, which tells me that the quality is consistent over time.

BTW, there is a sister hotel called Tinkus in a nearby area. I can’t get it to show up on TripAdvisor. Be sure your taxi driver takes you to the right one. Mine did not on one trip. This one is the Hospedaje Tinkus.

Can't say enough good about Tinkus Hospedaje. We spent four nights there in mid-January 2013. The owners and staff were wonderful, very friendly, tours assistance and suggestions, pointing us to some great restaurants and to a couple of things to see in Lima that we were unaware of (even tho this was our second visit to Lima). All spoke excellent English.

The rooms are comfortable, well but simply decorated and quite clean. They are not large, but you don't come to Peru to sit in your hotel room. We had a room on the front our first night, and there is more street noise there. Our room on the top had a patio and was very quiet at night.

We enjoyed a glass of wine in the little wine bar next to the hotel each evening before going to dinner -- it is a good chance to try the owners'/staff's suggestions and for good conversation.

Wifi worked fine throughout, in rooms and common areas.

Breakfast includes a menu with several full breakfast options -- scrambled eggs with ham on toast, fresh fruit salad, with typical exotic fruits from the Amazon, all very good.

The neighborhood is very safe and convenient to shops and many, many restaurants and places to go during the day and night..

The hotel is small, with only 14 rooms. It offers the friendliness, intimacy and personal service of a B&B but the atmosphere, privacy and sophisticated atmosphere of a hotel.

What you get for the price is incredible. We will stay there again should we return to Lima.

We stayed 2 nights in top room, lots of space in rooms. Staff friendly and helpful. We booked a tour of Lima through the hotel. There are many shops and places to eat near to the hotel. And only 2 blocks from the main park, park Kennedy. No complaints!

A comfortable hotel for the price. Nice location in Miraflores. Most of the staff speak english very well. I only stayed 2 nights, but my room was comfortable. It has a basic lobby but can't complain! I recommend Tinkus.

A great value hotel/hostel, with a really nice breakfast of fresh coffee, scrambled eggs with ham on toast, fresh fruit salad and orange juice. If you have breakfast about 9am it's normally quiet. I would come back for sure.
