“Good Location but with Flaws”
Reviewed 5 June 2013

This hotel is very well located across the street from an underground shopping area replete with stores and restaurants.

Our room here was large, but the furniture was bulky with only one chair for 2 people. We had to sit on the edge of our twin beds to eat a room service meal.

The shower was designed by somebody who never took a shower: The shower head was a dinner plate sized disk in the ceiling that rained water straight down with no place to go other than stand outside the shower stall to adjust the temperature while water flooded the bathroom floor.

One bed was so close to the windows that the bed had to be moved to open or close the drapes.

Marriott is ridiculously cheap by charging for in-room internet that most hotels include.

Too bad that what should be a 5 star hotel rates only 3 stars when deficiencies are considered. I expected better from Marriott and was disappointed.

Room Tip: Our room wasn't very good but I have no idea whether other rooms are substandard or not. See yo...

Stayed for 1 night at the JW Marriott Lima in May 2013. We arrived late and we wanted a reliable choice. It was everything we expected. As Marriott Gold we got a room on the 19th floor overlooking the ocean. Access to the very good breakfast lounge in the morning. The room was large, the bed also, bathroom had shower and a nice tub. Really you cannot go wrong with this place. Has the AAA rate and room was about $180 per night. Only thing is the wait sometimes to check-in. Note that there is a Casino at the bottom, a bunch of American Brand stores across the street. Keep in mind weather in Lima is often foggy so your view may end up being just clouds... at least in the morning. We stayed at other hotels in Lima and Peru. This was by far the quietest of all. Others often let traffic noise come through. When you travel a long distance, silence is priceless.

Room Tip: Ask for ocean view but expect fog.

Great hotel. In the center of everything. Across the street an open mall with restaurants, bowling stores, cinema.
Check in was great, service impeccable. Rooms are a good size, lean and cozy. The executive level is the best one I have stayed that was not at the Ritz Carlton. I was upgraded because of my platinum status. The provide 5 wonderful and complete presentations.
Great breakfast, lunch that was very complete ( though they call it light), wine and cheese ( yes wine is included at that time) Appetizers at night.
The room views to ocean are breathtaking.

Room Tip: Make sure to use executive level, Automatic upgrade when you are Marriott platinum.

had no choice, since i would otherwise not have chosen another marriott after the jakarta experience.
but this one, thank goodness, had no funky smells and the pisco sours were really very good.. housekeeping was also good, with the dolls being a nice touch. the late end-time for the buffet breakfast was also very very welcomed, seeing how good it was.
and the front desk service was good too.
but very expensive.. and unfortunately not sound proof enough.

Room Tip: could still hear the traffic on the 7th floor; a lot of the noise was thankfully cut off on the 16th...

The hotel is located in Miraflores, close to the pacific ocean. Make sure you book a room with sea view. Our room was very convenient with a nice bathroom. Breakfast is great; you have a big choice of fruits, bread, omelettes, meats, cakes etc. and some are freshly prepared at the buffet. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Two points to improve:
- Internet should be free in a hotel like the Marriott. We always went to the lobby to check our mails, because there we didn't have to pay.
- Cappuccino shouldn't cost extra for breakfast. Coffee, tea, milk and fruit juices were included.

I was lucky enough to have breakfast and Wifi included in the rate. Hotel is lovely. Rooms are very pleasant and spacious. Service is good and very friendly. Great location. Wifi is iffy and sometimes very slow -- it would have made me nuts to have had to pay for it. Marriott -- you need to up your game here -- better speeds and really you shouldn't charge for guests. Gym is great and plenty of equipment. Food and drinks good in the bar. Room service was good and quick. Over all very pleased.

Room Tip: Ocean view, of course.
