This hotel is well located on the top of the cliffs facing out to sea in the plush seaside suburb Mira Flores. The rooms are very nice; very tastefully and well furnished, soft beds, wonderful showers, great views and lots of space. Get a room facing out to sea - wow! The are some great walks right across the road and a mall buried into the cliff if you don't want to mortgage the house eating breakfast in the hotel restaurant (which I did once and it was also excellent and probably worth the money). Walk outside and to the right and you head up to some great market areas. Very entertaining and no need for taxis (which scare the bejeebies out of me in Lima and are to be avoided - especially the private cabs).

I have pointed out that this hotel is (relative to other hotels in Lima) expensive, but they did let us do a late checkout at 9pm to catch a night flight. I've never heard of such a late check-out for no additional cost, and it was very much appreciated in this instance. Top marks!

The areas around this hotel felt very safe with lots of security and police about, even on days when there weren't many tourists.

We visited at the end of May, 2013, and found the Marriott a perfect place to rest and re-group for our adventures in Peru. Too bad about the fog, as we could not go para-sailing. Ocean view, ( it did clear in the afternoon) and the Executive level are well worth the extra money. The food was way beyond your average buffet - plentiful and representative of Peruvian produce. The 4 of us ate breakfast- really a grand spread, lunch - also plentiful, and at 5PM wine and tasty filling ,small dishes. The staff were tremendously helpful - answering all of our questions. Internet access is free. We had read revues of restaurants in Miraflores, which we might have visited, but were so happy with the food, ambiance, service on the Executive Level we relaxed and ate all of our meals there.
The location was wonderful, and we were very comfortable walking in the area.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights after going to Cusco and Machu Picchu before we went home. This hotel has an excellent staff and went out of their way to accommodate! If you are a platinum member with Marriott and have access to the concierge lounge you MUST stay here. They have breakfast, lunch, dinner, and wine and cheese hour daily. The staff up there are amazing, all the food was spectacular, and the concierge lounge had a very nice atmosphere! We were originally concerned about spending the extra money but the concierge lounge definitely made up for that. Our room was on the 20th floor and had an amazing view! The beds were comfortable. When venturing out we asked for a taxi that was not as expensive as the Mercedes company they normally use and they got us one in a matter of minutes. Great hotel, great location (right on the cliffs, across from Larcomar Mall). Will most certainly stay here again if in Lima!

Room Tip: 20th floor had a great view!

I have stayed in this JW Marriott approx. 20 times but have not been there in about 8 years. I came to Peru with my family on vacation this month and decided to start with a stay at the JW Marriott that I knew so well. It is still just as comfortable as it ever was, and the service is always very gracious.
They do need to keep up with the times and put in new showers and tubs, so I can't give them a higher rating. The hotel is located in Miraflores and it is the best area of town to stay in. At the Lima JW Marriott you'll hare sweeping views of the Pacific ocean right outside your window ( make sure to ask for an ocean view) and everything elae you need within walking distance.
There is a great buffet breakfast, one of the best, but it is pricey.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor, ocean view.

We stayed for 3 nights at the JW in Miraflores. The hotel is excellent with large rooms and nice amenities. The higher rooms (we stayed on the 23rd floor) have access to the executive lounge with free drinks, snacks and small meals. We spent a fair amount of time wondering around the area which felt very safe. The staff was helpful and was happy to supply directions and tips on getting around.

Overall, great hotel and we would happily stay there again.

Room Tip: High rooms seem to be much quieter and the views of the ocean are great

We stayed for 1 night in a room on the 11th floor overlooking the ocean. The room was large and all of the furnishings were excellent. The weather in Lima is foggy in the morning but by afternoon the view was amazing. The staff was fantastically helpful and attentive.
As another reviewer mentioned "When you travel a long distance, silence is priceless" -we must have been there on a very unfortunantly loud night. Even from the eleventh floor the honking was incessant. After finally somewhat tuning out the honking we had a rude awakening at 4:30 to a blarring bullhorn.
For our return stay to Lima we will be in an apartment on a residential street and we are hoping for a more peaceful stay- without earplugs!.
