Hotel is located oppositie the historic palace of justice in the center of Lima, hotel is personell is friendly but very slow, check in took 20 minutes, have to say I got stranded becuase of bad weather in Quito and came 2.00 a.m., rooms are quite a bit worne out, big stains in the carpet, water in the bathtub did drain very slowly, old faucets and equipment, bed was ok, after all that the breakfast buffet was really good and had a good variety, breakfast are was nice and bright, check out was reasonable fast and staff was very helpful, I still would look for another place to stay, quite disappointed

This hotel is very well located. The lobby is elegant and the restaurants are wonderful. The breakfast was one of the best I´ve ever had.

The rooms are a bit dark and outdated. I´m not sure if there are remodeled rooms available , but ours had a "70s" feel to it.

The beds have nice linens and are comfortable and the t.v was modern. However the bathrooms were quite unattractive and in need of repair-lots of chips and stains.

I enjoyed our stay here , especially because of the fantastic breakfast and the Ilaria Shop in the lobby (love their stuff). However , there is room for improvement.

I stayed in Lima for 2 nights. I had a great experience at this hotel: staff was friendly, rooms are very comfortable, brand new furniture, bathrooms are very well equipped, decoration is very nice...It really feels like a five star hotel.
The breakfast was great with countless options.
It is near to historical Lima downtown, you can walk during day time, but it is safer to take a cab during the evening.

Good old Sheraton. Looks like something the communists built in the 60's. On a monumental esplanade to boot. Completely off scale from nearby buildings. In an area that is not really tourist friendly although convenient to Historical Lima. Dining options are limited but can be found.

I think if you come to Lima you HAVE to stay at this hotel for a couple of nights and at least a couple of nights in San Isidro or Miraflores. Why? Because even though you can taxi from one area to another of Lima, nothing beats being in the specific area and walking out your front door. It allows you to linger and experience more profoundly.

So here are the positive aspects of the hotel:

1. The physical building is actually decently good despite its age. The most startling feature is a 19 story atrium in the guest tower that is more impressive by the relative lowness of the corridor walls. We invariably stayed away from the ledges initially until we became more accustomed. There's no danger. The rooms are up to date and comfortable from a furnishing standpoint. The elevators are pretty quick. The hotel is very clean on the whole.
2. The Club Lounge is well worth whatever the extra cost is for a Club Level Room. You can basically eat breakfast and dinner here. I would not encourage this but when your days are upside down from touring, it is useful to be able to go in anywhere from 3PM to 11PM to grab a bite and drink. The food selections are quite good, only white wine and sparkling are offered for free, the rest must be purchased. Julio is there in the evening and is OUTSTANDING from a service perspective and will go above and beyond. Likewise in the morning the ladies are EXEMPLARY in their service and attention, I did not get their names but one young lady with glasses was training but you would never have known, far better than any F&B staff member I had working for me in all my hotels in the States, the lead server amazing as well. We stayed repeatedly at the hotel on 3 different occasions as we traveled across Peru and were greeted warmly and like part of the family every time we came back. A high appreciation for service and affability is at the heart of Peruvian society, but the Sheraton staff truly defined hospitality at its finest among all the hotels we stayed at in Peru - Tambo del Inka, Double Tree El Pardo, and Double Tree Paracas Resort.
3, The nearby Real Plaza Shopping Center with Plaza Vea Grocery Store and Oechsle Department Store is TERRIFIC. Best shopping center I encountered in Peru and I am in the Shopping Center business. Larcomar is a joke and a tourist trap, there is a shuttle that takes you there several times in the afternoon from the hotel but i did not find it a worthwhile excursion since from Larcomar it is a hike to get to anywhere interesting in Miraflores.
4, You can walk to downtown Central Lima SAFELY.
5. You can walk to the Magic Water Circuit and Museums SAFELY or take a taxi with the assistance of the very gracious bellmen.

And the negative aspects:

1. The rooms are a bit on the small side and on lower floors can hear city noise although that is true even in Miraflores or San Isidro. The rooms now have quadruple glazing over previous reviews and honestly did not find the noise to be a problem at all.
2. All heating and cooling is on a two pipe system which means that depending on what the plant of the hotel is producing, you are stuck with increments of hot or cold. During the shoulder seasons of Spring and Autumn this can be a problem since variability can be high and on an unseasonably cold day you may be stuck with cooling system.

The toss ups on Sheraton Lima:

1. Though interesting and a truly safe cultural experience, the surrounding area does not have enough tourist infrastructure. This is both good and bad. The good is that central Lima is still a real living city and not a tourist trap, however access from the Sheraton is uncomfortable in certain sections because of narrow and uneven sidewalks and no directional signage ANYWHERE indicating where monuments might be.
2. There ARE good food places in Central Lima but they are very difficult to find and if you do not speak Spanish, you are in for a challenge.
3. There are no tourist shops anywhere, some might say this is a positive, but you do want at least a LITTLE tourist here and there!

All-in-all we loved this hotel because the staff made it the Little Engine that Could. They are seasoned but not jaded. Miraflores was jaded in many establishments, same for San Isidro. When you see too many tourists, you take them for granted, not so at the Sheraton.

Room Tip: Ask to face the Justice Palace.

Went to Lima on a business trip and stayed at Sheraton as a trusted brand. Despite no AC in my room (and it was hot), the staff more than made up for this flaw. Especially helpful and super friendly were: Dante at the Concierge Desk and his colleague Jean-Franco. These two extraordinary men answered every question I had and went beyond the call of duty to accompany me to find my way and make purchases. They also helped me with translations and made phone calls for me. They are a true asset to the Lima Sheraton, always smiling, friendly and prompt to give you the service you need. Rooms were clean. I was on the 19th floor, you could still hear the street traffic and since you have to open the window due to lack of AC the noise was even louder. They do have a sauna (wet & dry) and decent gym.
