I stayed at the Business Tower Hotel for two weeks while working in Lima. My first impressions were good, the room is nice and clean.
I was paying my bill as I went, and was constantly amazed at the extra charges thrown in - cab quoted by staff at 20 soles, charged on the bill at 35 and so on. All complaints to staff are met with nervous shrugs and a very frustrating feeling of being a walking wallet who has no choice but to pay.
This got so bad (staff quoting one price, then charging another) that when I left my luggage at the front desk after check out while waiting for my afternoon flight, that I had to get the manager to sign a piece of paper agreeing that the service would be free and that all hidden charges would be waived.
A very nice hotel facilities-wise, but as a white foreign tourist I would recommend sticking to the trusted brands who you know will look after you, unless work is footing the bill and you don't mind being ripped off.
