San Agustin Exclusive

We stayed here one night after staying at the Dazzler for two nights. The prices are similar and the difference is night and day. The only advantage the San Agustin has is it is closer to the main part of Miraflores. This hotel is old style, with old bathrooms and small bedrooms. Staff were friendly enough and the hotel was clean. We stayed in a twin room as they didn't have a double available that was made up, and the beds are pretty small.
To be honest I much ordered the Dazzler- but that's just my opinion.

The location of this hotel is great. The Miraflores neighborhood is really nice and felt very safe. The hotel lobby is extremely small. We were with a large group so it was crowded when we arrived. However, the staff were very accommodating. Our room was clean with all of the amenities of a typical hotel. The beds were comfortable, and breakfast was good. The wifi worked well. Staff at the front desk can provide you with the wifi code. It is different for each floor. My favorite part of our stay was the beautiful nativity scene ob their tree for the holidays. Also, I needed a last minute request in the morning before we left, and the front desk staff went out of her way to help me even though it was extremely early in the morning. I was grateful for her assistance.

Stayed here one week ago with an aunt. We checked-in easily, the staff was always polite. Our room was ok, had the basics (flat tv, refrig, wood flooring, table, closet, etc) and the bathroom was nice. The best feature of this hotel is definitely the location (5 blocks from Larcomar mall, in Miraflores neighborhood which has lots of restaurants) and the downside of it were the little things such as: the sink was taking a long time to drain, just as the bath tub and the breakfast on our last day (we woke up later than the usual so many people have had breakfast and there was lots of dirty tables and lots of items on the buffet weren't fresh), but were things that didn't mattered along all the positive ones.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with wood floors and have your breakfast soon.

Situated in the best area of Lima for a tourist (Miraflores) this is a clean hotel with average facilities. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Miraflores is a nice area to visit, with designer shops, coffee bars and restaurants just a short walk away from the hotel. A good place to stay for a few days in Lima

This hotel is in a great location & has a nice staff, but the rooms are suffering from neglect.

There were 2 receptacles in my room (f bathroom, 1 by TV) & both were so worn out a plug wouldn't stay in. The 110v plug in the bathroom was non-functioning.

The bathroom as nice, but the plumbing needs major updating. When taking a shower, if any room in the stack of rooms above you flushes their toilet, you get scorched. Not a pleasant experience, especially over & over each morning (on the plus side, the hotel had really hot water).

Bathrooms come with a hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner.

There is free wifi, and each floor has its own password. I had trouble accessing wifi in my room.

I would not chose to stay in this hotel again.

The incident happened at 7:14pm on November 4 2013. We were on our way back to the hotel after dinner. While we were walking between the San Augustine Exclusive and the hotel next to SAE (less than 200 feet), a woman approached us with an open bag of candies. She pushed us and started talking to us in Spanish, and I was basically walking against the wall. The woman was wearing a sweater shirt and a pair of jeans. She is about 5"5 with curly hairs and round eyes. Since we were so close to the hotel, I screamed and rushed to the lobby. My husband immediately found she took his wallet. The concierge questioned her, then she dropped off the wallet and ran away. The guy at the concierge had chased her, and when he returned, he said the Miraflores police had caught her. But because she dropped the wallet, the police had to let her go. We also checked the hotel security camera, but it was too blurry to capture her face and there was no camera on the street. I am writing this down for future visitors to keep an eye on the surrounding areas.

Other than the incident, the hotel is in a good location, and is very convenient. The wall between rooms was a little thin, and you can hear the next door showering.

Room Tip: Book Away from the elevator, and at the back of the hotel.

The reason I say this is because this small hotel is just 1/2 block away from the main street. If you step our of the hotel turn left and go to the corner. When you get to the corner turn left and walk a few blocks to the ocean where you will find a large mall. I just returned from a fantastic tour of Lima and Machu Picchu so all of this is fresh in my mind. When we arrived at 2AM my first thought was "What have I gotten into?" Well let me tell you this hotel was Clean, Comfortable and the staff was very courteous. You must exchange money as it was an experience. They call a "Bag Man" off the street who comes to the hotel with a bag full of money and they exchange dollar for dollar in the lobby. It turned out to be a great location and we never worried about getting lost.
