If you want the Hyatt or Hilton style of modern confort, this is not for you. If you want an immemorable time journey, it is. Built in the 1920´s it must have been state of the art, not just for Peru but in comparison with Paris, New York etc. The great thing is, little har changed, except that they have put in TV sets in the rooms. A breach of style, but it is what the travelling public wants these days. The radio cabinets, however, are definitly the same. Turn the knob and music fills the room. Must have been great in 1926.
Of course some wear and tear shows - the lift sounds like an excavator - but basically it is in working order and clean. The staff is great, friendly and competent. Prices reasonable.
If you have even the remotest interest in football (real football, the game you play with your feet, not what the Yankees call football) do not miss a visit to the nearby bar/restaurant Estadio. If you are a real aficionado, you will come back. Also the bar at the street level of the Bolivar is worth visiting. Great Pisco Sours.More
