We arrived on a cruise line that was late so tension was high. However, we found Ricardo Gálvez, firstname.lastname@example.org and were quickly off on a great adventure. Ricardo was very well educated in the Lima history, cultures and foundations of the city of Lima as well as the surrounding areas. He speaks english so our journey was even better and quite interactive. We started with asking for 4 hours of time to try it out and in the end were begging to go to the last minute of our 9 hours (just to make it back on the cruise in time). We saw a great one day slice of Lima from the waterfront "new" to the city center "old". The area of MiraFlores was great and we had a meal per his selection that was absolutely the best (and was our first but not our last "Pisco Sour") ceviche, octopus, ... We had some walking tour of an archeological restoration of a Huaca (one of over 360 in the city), the wooden bridge crossing to rid us of evil spirits (only if you can make it across while holding your breath the entire way), and a climb to the bell tower and above on the monastry near town square. Truly a great day of touring! You can check the web site www.tagtourperu.com (you'll see Ricardo in the black jacket in the center of the welcoming picture :o). Lots of good information on the site as well.
His driver, Eliseo Hudman, was a masterful strategic driver that kept us feeling safe even though there was lots of crazy driving all around us. And got us in and out of some very congested area (considering it was the Christmas season) in a relative short amount of time. His contact info is email@example.com and would be great if you just needed the transportation side of the action.
They combined to make this a very favorable experience. Peru and, specifically, Lima would be one of the spots we would return to see more. Great starting point for Machupichu or even going over to Cusco...
