This hotel is a tiny grungy hotel. The room feels like a box with no charm. The worst thing about staying here is how loud the workers are. They start the day a 5:00 am and you can hear everything. There is no regard for their guests and since the hotel is soo small you can hear everyone's conversations. The front desk is not friendly and neither is the staff. We asked for towels and blankets 3 times and finally received them. Bathrooms are gross. If you want something to eat or drink you have to leave the hotel cause thy only open the kitchen for breakfast. Breakfast is just few pieces of bread and tea and coffee. Pay $20 more and stay in a better place!!!

Miraflores is the place to be if you are a tourist, and it is also a good location for many business and other purposes. The place is full of international visitors from many places, and chances are you will not have problems communicating in any number of languages. Lima hotels can trend expensive and El Ducado is a fine choice for those looking to cut expenses if you are just looking for a place to sleep.

If you are not comfortable with a hotel without a grand lobby, fancy restaurant, business center and concierge, elegant rooms filled with amenities, this is NOT your place. If you want a safe, clean, friendly, helpful place to sleep, this is a good option among the many botique hotels in the Miraflores area. I've stayed in both uppper and lower end hotels in this area for many years. I'd go back without hestitation when here for a few days business trip and looking for a well-located sleeping spot. This is a typical, Latino-style hotel, so keep that in mind when reading some of the other comments on open windows, bathrooms, etc. I stayed here on the suggestion of a friend whose relative owns the hotel.

Positives: Great location close to Larcomar mall and the coast, everything you could want within walking distance, safe and located on a side street off the noiser main drags. I found the staff to be very nice and accomodating. Keep in mind that I am a Spanish-speaker and totally at home in Latin American culture, so I am not going to have some of the issues I saw in other reviews. I was here with several friends attending a study course and we all had a good experience.

Things to consider: Breakfast, as already pointed out, is bread, butter, jam, juice, coffee or tea. That's it. Want more? You have a world of choices within a five minute walk. There are so many good places to eat in Lima I don't want to tank up at breakfast anyway. Rooms are indeed basic and small in the traditional Latino style for this level of hotel. But, mine was clean and provided everything I needed. If you want an American style 4 or 5 star hotel, there are many to choose from. If you want to save some money in a more traditional Latino style hotel, check out El Ducado or something similar. Just three weeks eaerlier I stayed in another botique hotel just 400 meters away. The breakfast was better and it was a bit larger. But, it was much noisier, rooms not quite as clean and mine had a strange smell that never went away. If I were to choose between the two I would go back to El Ducado and just may the next time I am in Lima.

Situated off the main drag but not a bad location.
The staff attitude left a lot to be desired and it seemed overall not a happy or enthusiastic place.
There was no bar facility but they did let you bring a drink in if you wanted to.
The breakfast was ok ish but quite limited to bread and jam.
Rooms were quite average.
There must be lots of better options to choose from in this city and you would not want to stop more than a night or two here.

We stayed in this hotel both the first and last night of our journey in Peru. The hotel has an excellent location: Jose Larco avenue with many banks and shops is just a one-minute walk away, it takes 5 minutes to walk to the Larcomar shopping mall with a large variety of restaurants and you can walk down to the beach in about ten minutes. The hotel is well secured with a gate that can only be opened from the inside, has a very nice interior courtyard with a terrace and has both wifi and a computer (both of which we used for hours without any problem). The staff were very helpful, providing us with extra blankets and with a very early breakfast when we had to get a bus earlier than the hotel's official breakfast time. They also helped us arrange a bus tour in Lima's old city centre for a decent price.

The problem with this hotel is the rooms. They were small and the furniture was old and dirty. There were no window frames, so that there was considerable space between the window glass and the wall. That was quite problematic as it was rather chilly when we were there (hence the extra blankets) and since the room we stayed in the first night was located right above the kitchen, a lot of noise came into the room as well. The room we stayed in when we returned had the same type of windows, but was at the streetside where it was not noisy at all. I would therefore recommend to ask for a room at the front of the building.

The bathrooms were pretty gross: everything we touched was sticky. The hotel is simply very old and used and needs a serious renovation in order to provide just a bit of comfort to its guests.

Room Tip: Rooms on the streetside are quieter.

It has been a hectic day. First we got fumigated out of our hotel in the Hostal Porta ant then we got transferred here. The rooms were not that bad, but definitely not the quality for 80 dollars per night. We were sleeping and the alarm started to go off really loud starting 5 am. It kept going every 2 minutes.

Room Tip: get another hotel...
