Owner description: Huayna Picchu is located towards the north of the Inca city of Machu Picchu. To climb the mountain of Huayna Picchu, should reach the checkpoint and entrance to Huayna Picchu and the road begins a few meters from the Sacred Rock is followed, it is an area with very dense vegetation, this road is very steep and quite and includes sections of narrow stairs and steps made of granite stone placed irregularly, there are some that appear carved into the rock. The promotion lasts between 45-60 minutes depending on the physical state of the person.

“Absolutely amazing!”
Reviewed 6 May 2014 via mobile

I'm an avid hiker and I do have to say that this was a challenge. Definitely not for the faint of heart because of the slippery steps and the height. I am afraid of heights but saw this as a challenge and a great
accomplishment. You definitely have to be in shape and paste your self going up and down. It is definitely worth it!!!

“Dissapointing”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

It was a huge and exhausting hike almost vertically uphill. Although not in the rain season, it was al very cloudy so could not see anything from up there, I could presume it s a magical place under other circumstances, so it you want to check it out, make sure it wont be covered or rainy during that day, It will ony eat you energies out for Machu Picchu

If u r in good shape and fit, then its a must for u to climb it, and see the Machu Picchu from above! If its cloudy (wich is most of the time early in the mornings) dont despair: wait patiently till all the clouds are gone and be amazed by the view!!
Dont be lazy and climb the Huchuy Picchu as well, u'll get a closer view of the Machu Picchu for perfect pics ;)

“What a Hike!”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

Definitely not for the faint of heart or the inexperienced hiker! I loved the challenge! Even if you are in excellent shape and familiar with hiking at these altitudes, Huayna Picchu will push your limits. The views are spectacular from the top. Don't take hiking poles ... it's better to use the handrails provided along the trail to hoist yourself up the steep climb. We were moving fast up to the summit and it did take the recommended 1 hour ascent and 1 hour descent (which included about 15 minutes at the top to look around). Try to get to the entrance gate for Huayna Picchu, located at the back of Machu Picchu, by 7:00 a.m. to be at the front of the line going up. At this time there are fewer people on the trail and you can climb at your own pace. Later it becomes crowded and much more difficult to maneuver the narrow, steep steps.
