I had a great time! Katty, the owner was fantastic! She spoke well in English, was upbeat, friendly and answered all of my questions with honesty and details. Katty also let me know about all of the events that were taking place in the area so that I could make the most of my time there.

The only complaint that I would have is that it was really loud at night. Not in the hostel itself, but outside in the Plaza. I need to mention that there were festivities happening in the town.

I definitely enjoyed the hammock and the common area.

I took off bus and ask local about the hostel, and found the hostel is moved to new address around plaza, next to restaurant and mayor building. (just opposite i left from the collecto)
The photos in booking.com or tripadvisor.com are not updated.
The room only have one light bulb and no real window, it is ok for limited budget. Hot water shower is ok. Wifi only work in dinning room. One lady work there but barely speak English, two fellows ( her son and daughter) speak ok and appear some time. They are friendly and helpful.
I told I will wake up early and catch the first train at 5:00 and prepare a hot water in bottle for me, they did and prepared some bread and jam as breakfast too.

Room Tip: Far end room is quiet

We stayed here two nights before and after an all day trip to Machu Picchu. The location is nice (right on the plaza) and one can ask to watch movies in the main den. Katty speaks excellent English, which is helpful, however she doesn't respond readily to emails and there was need to prompt her response multiple times. There is no soap in the bathrooms and the blankets on the bed are too thin for the cold Andean nights. The breakfast was abominable--in order not to get sick I recommend paying the little extra it would cost to eat at one of the cafes on the plaza.

Room Tip: Rooms have thin walls so avoid the ones near the den or near the doorbell as people come in late.

We stayed here for $25 soles per person, which we found a bargain considering we looked at KB Tambo and they were asking almost $50 USD per night (ridiculous!). The wifi did not work in the room, the toilet was missing a seat and the sink leaked, the walls were so thin we could hear our neighbor farting in the shower, however the cat was super cute, it was centrally located, the bed was adequate, and breakfast was ok. We have stayed in way better and way worse.

We hadn’t booked a bed before arriving in the town as it was the low-season so we thought we’d just have a look around when we got there . We’d had a look on Hostelbookers before-hand and it seemed that Chaska Wali was by far the cheapest option and it had positive reviews overall. When we arrived in Ollantaytambo it was 8.30pm and we were shattered after a full day walking in Macchu Picchu and Huayna Picchu on the back of 4 days trekking. So on arrival we just made our way to Chaska Wali. We paid 50 Soles for a double room with private bathroom. The room was pretty terrible though. No windows, paper thin walls and the ‘hot’ shower was not even close to hot. The bed was also really uncomfortable and itchy. Breakfast was included but was the usual stale bread with jam and butter and bad coffee. We checked out and went found the Andean Moon Hostel which was much better. I wouldn’t stay here again and don’t see why the place has so many positive reviews. Only good thing was that they have a big TV in the breakfast room / bar so I watched Trigger Happy TV in english which I'd previously not seen in years. This made me happy!

Room Tip: Don't have any of the ones on the ground floor. Noisy and dark

This hostel arouses very contradictory feelings. One one hand, the owner is pretty friendly, cats are cute, Internet's working and it's right on the main square. On the other hand, price of 25 soles per bed in a dorm seems way too high: rooms are dim, beds are pitiful, breakfast not worth mentioning (once there was almost no marmalade left, and I had to dig to the bottom of the jar to get some). Both times I stayed there there was no hot water. Next time I'd probably look for another place.

$8/night. Right in center of ollantaytabmo. The owner has connects to all sorts of tours so you can get good prices and ideas.

They have a nice lounge with cheap drinks and beer.
They are very close to kb tours and a great restaurant if you like.

Wifi availability was limited. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not, but that is all of Peru outside of Lima.
Very safe hostel too. Always locked door.
Private bath available.
