“Nice place to eat”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

We had a very Peruvia nice meal when we stayed in Ollantaytambo last week on our way to MP. The staff was very friendly and helpful in making a meal choice. I had a steak perfectly cooked and my wife had a burritos. Both were delicious.

“Delicious Peruvian food ”
Reviewed 5 July 2014 via mobile

Ask for the set menu and you get three courses of delicious food - genuinely some of the best I've had across Peru - for S/25, which is good value for a touristy, nice restaurant in Ollantaytambo (although you can get a menu for S/7 if you head off the main streets). The seco de cordero was amazingly tender and the zapallo soup was actually made with roasted veg rather than powder soup as in lots of other places. Would definitely recommend!!

Even tho there was a large group the night we were there, the service was good and the food excellent. The waitress was very efficient and pleasant. We never felt rushed or neglected

“Updated restaurant with nice atmosphere & view, and great food at reasonable price”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

This was the first restaurant we went to when we arrived in Ollantaytambo, and we found it so pleasant that it became the only restaurant in Ollantaytambo where we dined. We had dinner, brunch, and take-out food all from Puka Rumi. It wasn't typical of us to keep going back to the same restaurant multiple times as we are pretty adventurous, so we normally like to try out different restaurants.

So, what made us choose this restaurant again & again? We can't point to any one reason, but between the two of us, we came up with the below list:
- The menu was easy to read: We felt like they had the right amount of dishes to pick from (not too many to be overwhelming, but not too few, either), and each dish was described concisely. We actually tried to go to a different restaurant on our second day in Ollantaytambo, but after flipping through the menu book, we decided to come back to Puka Rumi.
- The atmosphere was pleasant & inviting: This restaurant felt new & very updated when we were there in May 2014 - with large windows on the second floor to allow for people/street watching & privacy at the same time, & we could also see one of the main ruins in town - which looked different from some of the pictures that had been posted here. So, I've posted a few pictures of the Puka Rumi restaurant that we visited to show what the restaurant looked like in May 2014.
- The food was good, in taste, size, & presentation, & the price was reasonable (especially given the portion!). It was almost like having home-made food...in a foreign country! We tried various things & we were always happy with our orders: Alpaca meat, Full chicken sandwich, Puka grill pizza, & Aji de gallina.
- The staff was patient/friendly. They didn't speak much English, but there was no communication issue at all. Again, we believe the self-explanatory menu really helped solve any language barrier.
