Owner description: Awamaki creates authentic tourism experiences that connect visitors to the Sacred Valley with the women and artisans in its Quechua communities. We offer village visits to meet our artisans, weaving lessons, language classes, craft workshops and fair trade shopping, all of which benefit Andean women entrepreneurs. As a non-profit, we provide rural women with economic opportunities and skills training so they can earn a living and provide for their families. Our artisans produce contemporary home, gift and accessory items using traditional Andean techniques and organic plant dyes. They welcome visitors to see their communities, learn about their craft, and support their businesses. We’re based in scenic, peaceful Ollantaytambo, centrally located in the Sacred Valley between Cusco and Machu Picchu. We are registered as a non-profit in Peru and a 501(c)(3) in the United States.

What a great experience, and definitely one to not miss!!!! The drive through the Patakancha valley was beautiful and the ladies of the community were just lovely! Sitting down with your “professor” one on one and making a bracelet using their technique truly makes you appreciate how talented these women are. We highly recommend this!

Just amazing! Had my doubts because i booked this tour mostly for my mother and girlfriend who were travelling with me! Ended up being one of the best tour we had in our full 5 weeks trip to peru! We travelled with Juan, to a small community, locas were friendly, food was great and very interesting tour and ended the tour with a cooking class in Ollantaytambo! 10/10 would recommend! will definitly come back for a few days!

We did a daytour and really loved it. The guides were very kind and told us a lot about the culture and history.
The lady's of the village taught us how to weave and were lovely.
This company is a great example of how tourism should be. With respect for the people and culture and not trying to the get everything as cheap as possible. Awesome!
