“My perfect birthday dinner”

Perfection from start to finish. There is no better place to eat in the Sacred Valley. Melt in your mouth handmade pasta and the best meal I think I've had all year.

Romantic, rustic, chic decor and a wonderful staff made our perfect evening complete.

“Wonderful food and nice atmosphere”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

We were guests at the hotel and had dinner here (as well as breakfast as part of our hotel rate). The dinner was one of the best we had in Peru. I had a vegetarian soup and others at my table had the alpaca burger and the lamb with mint quinoa - all were very tasty. We shared a Peruvian potato appetizer that was very good also. The produce here comes from the organic farm attached to the restaurant. Great service and ambience too!

“Best Food in Ollantaytambo”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

If you are smart enough to chose to stay in Ollantaytambo, El Albergue is the answer to where to have dinner. You could simply stay there as we did. While not overly expensive it is perhaps the nicest place in town and literally located on the train platform from which you will depart for Machu Picchu. The inn and restaurant were founded long ago by Wendy Weeks from Seattle and her Peruvian husband and is run today by their sons. Perhaps this is why you will find homemade pastas and sophisticated food in such a small town in the Sacred Valley. Causas, quinoa, alpaca and river trout were all well prepared and delicious. They actually maintain their own organic garden next to the inn supplying all their own produce as well as ducks, etc.

The ambience is rather like a small French inn with candle lit tables and dark exposed beams. But the live harp music is purely Peruvian and the flavors are a bit of both.

“Lovely and lovingly prepared food”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

This is the top restaurant in Ollantaytambo. The food is superb (I highly recommend the alpaca steak and aguaymanto cheesecake), the staff are amazing, and the location is exceptional (right next to the train station, but surprisingly not noisy at all). Definitely worth the walk (or S./2 mototaxi ride) over! Don't forget to get a reservation for nights!
