G-Adventures were a total fail on this hotel. The one day when you don't want a cold shower is the day you begin 4 days of camping and walking the Inca Trail. The wifi only worked intermittently, and only if we stayed within 10 meters of the front desk which is open to the air, so quite cold to sit around in. One of the staff members bought two kids in to work who ran around the corridors squealing till 21:00. Breakfast was the worse we had in Peru - the bread was stale enough to be used as a weapon, the 'juice' was sweet enough to decay your teeth just by looking at it.

My husband and I stayed for a week in May at the Hotel Casa de Mama in Ollantaytambo. The managers of the hotel went out of their way to make sure that our needs were met. It's a great place to explore the Sacred Valley as well as take the train to Machu Picchu from. They served an all you can eat Peruvian breakfast. Hot water for coca tea all day.

The young couple who run the place have gone out of their way to make sure my needs were met and helped with every request brilliantly. Lovely beds, cold at night but plenty of blankets. Strong hot showers. Unltd coco tea, breakfast was plenty. 2 mins from the plaza 7 mins for train station. Near good restaurants and cafes especially heart cafe where all the profits go to local mountain families. I stayed here before going to machu pichu and on the way back to cusco both times were perfect. An Definitly coming back to stay one day.

The guest rooms are very spacious, clean with comfortable beds. Bathroom was clean. Hot water was available. The hotel is located near the city center and the railway station, in a quiet street. It's very cozy, family-run hotel provides good service. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly and reliable. Prior to our arrival we sent to hotel at cash 500. USD through MoneyGram to us bought tickets to Machu Picchu. Tickets were ready for the reception when we came. The next day upon departure by train to Machu Picchu, they prepared breakfast early in the morning. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. We were able to leave luggage at the hotel until our return from the trip.

I stayed in a double room here as part of a G adventures tour for one night. I didn't see the hotel staff much so can't comment on the service really. The shower was really cold in the morning which was really unfortunate for the other members of my group who started the Inca trail that day. The room was spacious and had nice natural light.

As part of our G Adventures tour we stayed in this hotel. It appears to be recently refurbished and the shower and facilities were good. The staff consisted of a young couple who lived in the hotel. They checked us in then promptly disappeared, arriving back around 11pm. We stayed in this hotel prior to starting the Inca Trail so we went to bed early. The guy running the hotel woke me up smashing around then proceeded to have his huge telly on in his room on full blast. He was stood in the kitchen (across from the reception) watching it ?!?!?!
After shouting at him for about five minutes he turned down the telly. The phone was also ringing repeatedly all night, but I unplugged it before going to bed. He set up breakfast the night before so it was all stale, the milk had curdled, everything was vile and inedible.
The icing on the cake was the manager loosing the key to the storage room and having to smash the window to get our tour guides luggage. This made us two hours late for the Inca Trail.
This hotel has the potential to be lovely but while being run by these idiots I strongly suggest you do not stay here. I also saw into the room of the people running it and it was piled high with dirty dishes, cluttered and filled with dirty clothes. I dread to think what the kitchen must be like!!
Absolute disgrace!!

We stayed here as part of a G-Adventures tour, and had a pretty awful experience with the night staff.

The good - the hotel is well located in Ollantaytambo, and has been relatively recently furnished.

The bad - it has been furnished on the cheap, and our toilet was already falling apart and some of the chairs in the garden are broken.

The ugly - The owners had checked us all in earlier in the day, but had then handed over to a young lad to cover the evening from about 6pm. He then proceeded to leave the hotel front desk completely unoccupied, and the front door open, until gone midnight when he reappeared. The keys to all the rooms were therefore freely available to anyone who cared to poke their head round the front door. We even had to resort to answering the front desk phone in our best Spanish on his behalf!

When he finally returned to the hotel, he then proceeded to watch the TV in his room on full volume so he could watch it while preparing breakfast from the kitchen. As we were all getting up early to start the Inca Trail, this was not appreciated. It took us some time to persuade him to turn it down for the sake of us and the other guests.

The breakfast (including milk, yoghurt etc) was then left out uncovered until 7am, when we had to let in the morning staff to finish preparing breakfast because our young friend was still asleep in his room.

The final straw was that one of our guides had left some luggage he needed for the trail in storage. The night staff had lost the key, so he had to break a window and climb through to get it out.

Our guide (not unreasonably) complained to the owners, and I sincerely hope this guy gets the sack as a result.
